I've seen too many games where LT was completely shut down - personally, I consider LT to be a much better Westbrook - as a pure runner - he's good but nothing like he is hyped - Peterson is a no brainer other than than the injury factor - league just does not have that many real good running backs right now.

Peterson has a chance to be as good as Tomlinson, and maybe even better. But considering he hasnt played a full year, he was hurt in college a lot, and now has been hurt in the NFL, and his backup ran for like numbers in his absence, i think this question is premature, and thats being nice.

With that said, i really like Peterson, i thought he would do well, and i hope he continues his success.

And no, he is has no chance to ever be as good as Brian Westbrook, who is by far the most valuable running back in football.

Not yet but Steve Hutchinson is easily one of the best O-linemen...ask Shaun Alexander

Tomlinson and it isn't a debate. Hell, Chester Taylor is getting almost 5 yards a carry behind that line. AP has a ton of talent but the holes he gets are crazy and make him look like he is doing more than he is actually doing. Most backs don't have the chance to run free like he does.

LT is the more complete back. Better receiver, better blocker, better passer.

If I were starting a franchise, I'd go with youth and take AP but Tomlinson is light years ahead. Plus he doesn't get injured every single year.

the line is overrated. just because you see names like birk and hutchinson doesn't mean they are playing up to there capability. Peterson constantly faces 7-8 man fronts and is running for 6.5 a carry. not even close, peterson

7-8 man fronts with 7-8 blockers... You can plug the lane all you want but if the offense has enough talented blockers to move you out of the way it doesn't matter.

I don't see why everyone loves this guy. Yes he's a talent but he's also behind the best run-blocking line in the game today and the holes he runs through are enormous. There are more than a few RBs that could pickup 6+ yards with those holes IMO.

The guy only picked up 5 yards a carry in college with the line "unstacked".

That is both a testament to the line and Peterson. They face 7-8 man fronts b/c of Tarvaris Jackson, that isn't a condemnation of the OL. If anything, the fact taht Peterson is averaging 6.5 and Taylor 5.0 against 7-8 man front is a testament to how good that line is.

Peterson is no doubt a top dog stud on the rise. 6.5 yds a rush this season isnt too shabby for a rook ( or anybody for that matter ) If this kid can turn in a 16 game season I think 2000 yds is a possibility. But right now its kinda premature calling him the best back in the league. LT is coming off a 31 Touchdown season uncase you forgot. Peterson has the potential to put this league on his back but his back needs to stay healthy in order to do so and so far he has gotten injured at every corridor of his life.

a quote from Adrian Peterson

"I want to be the best player to ever play this game"

Now im sure every aspring rookie in the back of his mind feels the same way. But AP actually has a chance to make this a reality.

AD... i'm not biased

OK, right. LT is better overall. Peterson can be better. Peterson cannot stay healthy. Who cares how good he is or can be if he's sitting on the bench? LT already in top 5 for overall rushing I believe, maybe higher. Peterson hasn't even played one complete year. Time will tell.

figured you could tell i was being sarcastic? anyway, of course i'm biased, the guy is my favorite player. but i don't think it's unreasonable to say he's better, even if he's so young. i think both will go down as top 5 backs, but ad will be higher. jmo

Well if he can stay healthy he probably will. But doesn't he have a history of being injured?

A friendly bump to remind everyone he has 100+ yards once in the last seven games. :scared:
