Croatia vs. Spain
Under 17 (in Lithuania)
July 4th
pick: Croatia -4.5

Croatia is 4-0 while Spain is 3-1. Croatia beat Argentina by 10 while Spain lost to them by 10. Croatia just played the home team (Lithuania) to a close game but won by 4 points as the losers did make 13/34 3-pointers. There will be motivation in this game to avoid the USA. Croatia is the better team in my opinion.

Croatia -4.5

Croatia wins by 5 to cover. The final score was 73-68.

Plenty of basketball games today (Wed. July 11, 2012)

*Euro Women Qualifiers (most books are carrying these games. I have a small play on Israel +11.5 vs. Hungary).

*WNBA (available at all books)

*PBA (Philippines Governor's Cup)

*International Women (Small Countries like Wales/Gibraltar)
Not available at many books.

*NBA Summer League

*Peru Superior League (There are two games today with San Marcos vs. EOFAP (-20), o/u 137.5)

My play for today is in Peru Superior (bet365)
Naval vs. Real Club
8:45pm eastern
over 114.5

I can't find too much about this league but the total of 114.5 seems very low. Even the women's game between Wales/Gibraltar is 115.5. The other game in Peru Superior action has a total of 137.5. Real Club is favored by 22.5 so they are expecting a game in the range of 68-46. Maybe we get an under but I am going with over 114.5. I will post the final score after the game.

over 114.5

added info:

Bet365 now has this at 117.5.

Pinnacle has it at o/u 128.5 with Real favored by -4.
I've never seen such a big difference in odds at two different books.

USA vs. Domican Republic
over 179.5

This game is played at UNLV at 9pm eastern. The Dom Republic is coached by John Calipari and Del Harris. They get points from Al Horford, Martinez and Garcia. They played a 109-83 game with Lithuania and a 95-85 game with Korea. Now they face the USA led by Lebron James, Kobe, Durant, etc.

There should be plenty of points even with some injuries to the USA team. Let's go with over and hope the USA shows their stuff in the "friendly". BTW, the USA is favored by 41.5.

This play lost as both teams got off to a slow start. Dom Republic didn't shoot well and it stayed under even with the USA scoring well over 100.

Take Portugal +25.5 on Saturday at 2pm eastern. These two played a 62-60 game in Portugal. Israel has good guards but is not very athletic. This is the final game of the first round. I think Israel wins by 15 to 22 points over winless Portugal. There is value in Portugal +25.5. GL!

Easy winner as it ends 58-47.

Australia at Spain
4:15pm eastern (Wed. July 18)
pick: Australia +14

These two played yesterday and it was close. Spain won 75-69. Spain played the USA for the gold medal back in 2008 and is favored to win the silver again led by the Gasols, Navarro, Calderon and Rudy Fernandez but this is a warm up game for the Olympics. I won't be shocked to see Spain win by 15 or more but there is value in taking the underdog at +14. GL!

Aussies +14 is a winner as Spain comes out on top by 81-75.

USA at Great Britain
2pm Thursday
under 174

This will be the USA's first road trip after games in Las Vegas and Wash DC. Great Britain will host this game in Manchester. They just played France and Spain (medal contenders) and played games in the 70's. They have decent players such as Lookout Stink/Lotsa Dung (actually his real name is Luol Deng), as well as Eric Boateng, who also played at Duke before transferring to Arizona. I imagine those two would like to play well against coach K.

The USA does play decent defense with Lebron James, Kobe and Tyson Chandler inside. The first two games for USA have reached 149 and 172. A high scoring game would not shock me but I like the under.

USA vs. Argentina
3:30pm eastern
pick: Argentina +28.5

This game is being played in Barcelona, Spain and the USA is off a large victory over Great Britain on Thursday. Their next game is against Spain and they should be more focused on that match.

Argentina lost to Spain on Friday by 20 points. They do have some solid players like Manu Ginoboli, Luis Scala and Carlos Delfino. Brazil only lost to the USA by 80-69 in Washington DC.

USA does have great talent led by Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Kevin Durant.

Hopefully, the Argentina team can keep it close and stay within 25.

12-8 overall.

USA wins 86-80 but Argentina +28.5 covers easily.

USA vs. Spain
4:30pm Tuesday
under 171

Take under 171 in this tuneup before the Olympics that start later in July. The USA has played lower scores against better teams like Brazil (149 points) and 166 (Argentina). The gold medal game of 2008 was very high scoring as it was the final game.

Spain has the Gasols, Navarro and Rudy Fernandez but Ricky Rubio is injured. The USA has Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Chris Paul, etc. Both have plenty of offensive talent but I expect a lower score in the 160's and under. I expect the teams to not show too much and to not get anyone injured less than a week away from the official start of the 2012 Olympics. GL!

Russia vs. Great Britain
Men's Olympics BB
3am eastern Sunday
Russia -11.5

All of the Russian starters are 6'6" or taller and led by former Utah Jazz player Andre Kirilenko. They also have Timothy Mozgov, Shved and Khryapa, and are well coached by David Blatt, a former Ivy Leaguer from the USA ("You can't spell RUSSIA without U-S-A.)

Great Britain is the host team and that is how they qualified. Blatt was upset about this and the Russians had to travel to the USA and South America to qualify.

Great Britain is led by Luol Deng, Eric Boateng, Andrew Lawrence and Pops Bensa. They have been erratic in their games and had several key players injured and not playing such as a 20+ point loss to Belgium. They did lose to the USA by 40 points.

Russia did beat Lithuana by 101-79 in their last match.

I would expect Blatt to focus on Deng and not allow too many 3's as the home team can make them if left open. Blatt is a solid defensive coach. The travel could effect the Russians, who have never medaled at the Olympics (but did as the former Soviet Union).
