How much of a downgrade do we give to BYU turning to the freshman QB Tanner Mangum? I'd say at least 3 points, maybe 5? Magnum is a PS#8 according to Steele so he was highly rated. Boise sure lucks out here don't they

Perhaps not a lot. BYU with Hill's injury history and losing its runningback, they were trending to more of a pass team, especially with those giraffe wrs. And consider that Magnum got a lot of reps when Hill was still rehabbing. The kid had poise on Saturday and was smart enough to heave the ball on another occasion that got them a field goal and the only other points in the second half for BYU.

Hokies QB Michael Brewer breaks collarbone, will miss 4-8 weeks

Did anyone else catch the unfortunate omen when Brewer was mic'd up in the Va Tech locker room at halftime and he said something to the effect that it was gonna take a lot more than that to get him out of the game? Tough break for the kid, hopefully he makes it back on the field this season.

Kudos Wanger....hell of a job partner.

Best source for team injuries I rely on is at Don Best.com (not sure allowed)

Jez, the number of quarterbacks taking a hit is unbelievable this early in the season.

TCU's defense potentially takes another hit and is getting awfully thin. I can't believe these two Frogs rolled a guy for a case of Keystone Light!

TCU defensive end Mike Tuaua and backup wide receiver Andre Petties-Wilsonwere arrested Monday on a felony complaint of robbery and bodily injury, Fort Worth, Texas, police said. They are accused of kicking and punching another TCU student and stealing a case of Keystone Light beer. The alleged incident occurred Sept. 4.A TCU spokesman said Tuaua has been suspended from the program.Tuaua, a senior, had not played in TCU's past two games. He started five games for the Horned Frogs last year and was expected to play a big role in 2015. The Horned Frogs already were without five defensive starters due to season-ending injuries. Tackle Davion Pierson, their most experienced defender, has not played this year due to a head injury.TCU travels to Texas Tech this weekend.

Injuries starting to pile up for Arkansas skill position players:

[h=1]ARKANSAS WR HAS 'DOUBLE FRACTURE' IN ARM[/h]

Jared Cornelius suffered the injury to his left arm after making a 34-yard catch in Saturday's loss to Texas Tech. Head coach Bret Bielema says he's unsure when the sophomore will return following surgery on the arm. He's the third Razorbacks' WR to suffer major injuries in the past two weeks.

Boston College coach Steve Addazio will replace injured quarterback Darius Wade with a “package plan” for Saturday’s non-conference encounter with Northern Illinois at Alumni Stadium. Redshirt freshman Troy Flutie and true freshman Jeff Smith will compete for the starting job, the coach said.

Wade suffered a fractured left ankle when he was sacked early in the fourth quarter of Friday night’s home loss to ninth-ranked Florida State, ending his season. Northern Illinois is coming off a 20-13 loss to No. 1 Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday. Flutie and Smith can expect a balanced evaluation with the first unit over the next two practices before actual game planning can begin.

“We have two young quarterbacks, neither of whom has played a meaningful snap in an offense that doesn’t have much confidence yet because it’s young,” Addazio said yesterday. “That young offense just got younger with a trigger man with no game experience, no matter which way we go with that. And now we are playing a bona fide MAC team that plays like a power five team.” Addazio said he would consider using both quarterbacks against the Huskies (2-1) depending on game situations. Addazio would prefer to avoid platooning but will have package plans in place that match each quarterback’s skill set.

Flutie, the nephew of 1984 Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie, is an effective roll-out passer who has appeared in three games this season, completing 8-of-10 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. Smith is a read-option quarterback who has rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns in two games.

on a side note, not sure I can remember so many injuries this early in the season, particularly at the QB position. If you look at the first 15 games on the board most of those involve QBs who are out or questionable: Cincy, Boise, Stanford, Syracuse, UCF, BYU, Wake, BC, South Carolina.

UCLA gets DB Ishmael Adams back to bolster the secondary but they also lost their starting CB to a foot injury. While Adams will help the secondary, he's a really, really good return guy (punts/KOs). Better field position, easier scores for a young QB
