I've been flying to Boston and New York every other week since September for work. I don't mind flying, but I'm due to get grounded. Anyone looking for a good sales rep ?

My greatest fear. Not to mention other things:

1. kids crying
2. smelly passengers
3. small seats
4. stale air
5. too hot and mucky
6. gross bathrooms
7. no more free food
8. long lines going through security
9. long lines to check in
10. tons of terrorism and security info which makes you more uneasy and scared
11. expensive prices to eat and drink in airport
12. uncomfortable chairs at the gate
13. annoying people who talk way to loud, have nothing to say and do it for 2 hours
14. having 4 different movies to show and the trip your on shows the one you really didn't want to see.
15. jerks hitting the back of your chair to wake you up and piss you off.
16. the one jerk who doesn't close his window blind to make the plane dark enough for the movie.

I probably missed some. I feel better now getting that off of my chest.

I am a control FREAK...I feel powerless up there....I know statistically there is no great danger....Same goes for working for anyone... I would much prefer to be paid on my own merits, therefore self employment is the only option....

You left out sitting next to a fat person. I have not flown since 9/11. Used to love it when I was younger (Flew alone at 11 years old).

My best ever, two fat asses, one on both sides of me, out of National in DC, cross country, and we get a two hour delay on the runway for snow removal. I miss my connection, my bags go through without me and get lost at destination. I get stuck past midnight in Oakland, and have to schelp from airport to greyhound, through a not so nice neighborhood. My bro stole dad's car keys and came and got me at airport. These slobs both hung over the armrests. Black guy and a white guy. Chain smokers. They both lit up one off another, claiming it relaxed them. And I am paying for this? They even smoked during inedible mystery meat meal. Both asked for second meals. One got gas immediately. Between the methane and the cigarette smoke I thought I would not make it to Denver. Never flew that carrier again.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

Hmmm ... I LOVE flying, personally. Love the takeoff and landing part the best, though jumping out of them is a great rush, too.

Not one bit afraid. It is an incredible hassle most of the time however. There are tricks and techniques to make it a little better.

It the safest way to travel period.

Feeling like you are in control while in your car is just a false sense of security. Your have no control over you surroundings and the control of your vehicle has limits, mainly the laws of physics. You are much more likely to be killed in your car than in a plane.

What could be better than flying? Join the mile high club while you are up there.

That and those little bag of mini pretzels from AA (8 mini pretzels per bag, yes I have counted) make it all worth it!!!!

Dante: you've never tried skydiving? You should, it's amazing!!!! It's a lot less scary than you'd expect, too ... when you're up there looking down, it looks totally surreal and all you really see are grids of fields and stuff. Landing is the hardest part, as it kinda hurts the ankles; you have to 'run it out' which is harder than it sounds. I haven't been in about seven years, but I think I have to go just one more time.

Bungee jumping, though, is much scarier, IMO. I've never done it, though I was ready to once. Chickened out. I'm more afraid of jumping off a 50-ft cliff into water than I am of skydiving. When you can clearly see what you'll be landing on, it's daunting.

I fly, but I HATE IT. I hate the feeling of not being in control whatsoever. Absolutely out of my hands when I am flying. Even as a passenger in a car I can say, "Hey watch out for that car turning or that guy about to run across the street up ahead" but now, on a plane, when I try to get into the cockpit to tell the pilots that I saw something they need to think about, I get tackled and sedated and things like that. tulsa
