I know Manu. I have seen him play and am well aware on his foot problems. They play the US who is more than ready and he knows it, the US gets out to a big lead 21-4.....look unbeatable and Manu decides to call it a day. You gut it out. He has done it before. Many have. Nocioni was limping around and played. THe replay did not look that bad at all on that foot. I have not gotten an update and for all I know he could have broken his foot. It might have been unplayable to play on it. That could be the case. I am taking the opinion that him and his team was in trouble and Manu said: "NO MAS"...Wilt Chamblerlain came out of a game 7 and Bill Russell criticized him for it and they never spoke again for years. How do you come out of a game 7? Well they all say this is the most important game of their lives. Well, I like Ginobli an awful lot but he quit today. You take your beating like a man. You limp, you fight, you play with the heart of a lion. Manu played like a pussycat today. You take you beating like a man.

They were not happy, Harvey we know that. But it was past that point. It was the climax. The pinnacle. They all have said that these games are the most important in their lives. He quit in that game. Too late to be thinking about the Spurs.

Manu is a fierce competitor. I'd be *really* surprised if his
contractual obligations to the Spurs did not play a very

I dont think he would of made up the 20 point difference but he sure as hell would of made it a lot more entertaining..He is the leader of the Argentina team and makes everyone else on the floor that much better. I was surprised to not see him go back into the game when Delfino and Scola got it down to 6. I was waiting for him to come jogging onto the court and make the game even closer...And as for the US goes I started getting sick to my stomach when they started showing shades of 2004. There was a 4 - 5 minute stretch where they were taking horrendous 3's, turning the ball over, missing foul shots and not playing defense. But again, that is the difference with this team. They have wayyyyyy too much talent to go cold for more than 5 minutes at a time. It will be impossible for all 12-13 of these guys to go completely cold. We will beat Spain, again, by 20-30

I agree with everything you said pretty much. You know what happened dude...the US had a 21 point lead and the opposing teams best player went out....they then relaxed, put it in cruise control and once you do that it is hard to change gears. You are right, it was shades off 2004 but Wade, Koby and Lebron were not going to lose. They did lose focus though and that cost us. We will definitely beat SPain by 20+...this team is too good and ready. Ginobelli thought they would lose by 50 adn walked away. Quitter.

back to olympics though, the olympics are a far distant to guys like ginobili who has millions at stake in the nba if he's out long term. no player of his caliber can afford to risk it. if your prignoni go ahead and risk it, if you are joe blow argentina basketball player risk it, youd be a fool to risk it though if you are manu ginobili playing for the san antonio spurs of the national basketball association. this tournament is secondary to him as it should be.

also remember many top american players declined to join the team.

The three best players in the NBA are there pretty much there in Koby, James and D Wade. Ginobli would not have played if he did not think this was huge. He is on record as saying these games are the most important. But I aunderstand NBA criticism and you are entitles to your opinion was well.
