Defending SWAC champion ALCORN STATE leads this year's preseason Black All-American
team with six selections. Virginia Union, Fayetteville State, North Carolina A&T, Southern,
and Alabama A&M all had two selections each. Twenty members of last year's team's post-
season All-American team are included on the preseason team including nine players that
were freshman or sophomores in 2018. To get your colored poster of the this year's team,
visit any of the schools apparel shops. While there, buy you a hat, t-shirt or whatever to
show your spirit and loyalty to the HBC network.

There may be more parity in the SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE than we've seen in quite
some time. Every team has serious question marks, and some big enough to impact the
national championship picture. Two teams that could shake up the SEC are Missouri from
the East Division and LSU from the West. One or both could make it to Atlanta to play for
the league title. Each team has experience and top-level talent on both sides of the ball.
Don't sale the Tigers short this year...……………………….

FLORIDA AGRICULTURAL AND MECHANICAL UNIVERSITY (Florida A&M) is located in Tallahassee
and was founded in 1887 with just 15 students and two instructors. Today, around 10,000 students
from more than 70 countries attend the school. Florida A&M is the largest among historically black
colleges in the state of Florida. The football team known as the Rattlers will travel to Central Florida
August 29th for their first game this season. I haven't seen a line on the game but would guess the
Rattlers will be favored by at least 17.88 points. Be there or be square...support the Rattlesnakes as
they bite the Knights.

Last year, KENTUCKY celebrated a ten win season, the end of a 31 game losing streak to Florida and
a New Year's Day bowl game. Fast track to this season where 14 of 22 starters are gone including
the team's all-time leading rusher and the Defensive Player of the Year. In other words, this is a re-
building year for the Wildcats and they ain't Alabama or Georgia who can just reload every year. Key
crippling personnel losses and a demanding schedule make for difficult 2019. You might want to mark
October 26 on your calendar when the Cats play Missouri. Kentucky has covered only 2 of 12 games
after playing Georgia. At the end of the Missouri game it will be 2 of 13.

COLLEGE 4-0 in the first football game played between two black colleges. At the time, scoring
a touchdown was worth four points.

Miami transfer Jack Allison or redshirt freshman Trey Lowe quickly if he wants to get anything
from his quarterbacks before opening against a tough James Madison team. Depending on the
poll, the Dukes will be ranked #1 or #2 in the opening FCS poll. With 19 of 22 starters returning
from a 9-4 team that averaged 34 points per game last year and a defense that was ranked No. 6
nationally giving up just 14.6 points per game....this game may prove to be a tough out for the
Mountaineers.
