So, you value the lives of schoolkids higher than anyone else? let us know where other groups rank among those deserving of shelter, should we have guards at the door pushing the elderly away, or blacks? Gotta keep room in case them kids show up, right?

My suggestion is that the govt has no role to play , people can and will rebuild(almost all no doubt had insurance in those areas), if they want to build a shelter fine, if not fine, and each school can decide for themselves what to do as well, how does that sound?
Well lets put it this way. Are you the kind of person that is going to cut to the front of the line when they say women and children first?

Looks like we are going to get pounded today in the DFW area. That's what they are saying right now anyways, but that could change in a min this time of year.
Yeah, I'm actually thinking of picking up my daughter early from school today. Had a tornado rip through our neighbor hood a couple of years ago.

You said children only, which is it, as far as I'm concerned no woman allowed, we have to stick to your absurd proposition, but yea, my life is worth every bit as much as some unrelated woman or child. Dont you understand that we cannot guarantee safety from a f-5 tornado, they can and do occur, and if you get hit you could very well die. There is a high risk today of the very same thing happening in dallas today, or southern OK, or arkansas, should we close down them schools? How about businesses, close them down, where do you draw the line?

Anyone see that interview with the elderly woman who survived in her house, but lost her dog? It was on CNN just a few minuted ago.
During the interview the woman reporter looked down and saw something move. It was the elderly woman's dog covered in debris. They freed the dog and it looked to be ok.

Awesome (and very timely) interview.

I live in Oklahoma. I realize this much more than you do. I've taken shelter from 2 different tornados in my lifetime. One went directly over us and destroyed part of our business. If the 1999 F5 tornado hadn't veered off from our location, the particualr shelter I was in at my business at the time wouldn't have done me any good, and I would have probably been killed. But 99% of tornados aren't F5. Most safe rooms are made to withstand up to 160-200 mph winds. Where did I ever mention closing schools? Now your making things up. Something you seem to be good at on here.

There were some schools south of DFW that closed at 9:45am this morning? Wtf, won't have any storms here till later today. I understand being safe and I'm all for that, but this is just stupid.......I'd much rather the schools say "hey, your children are safe. there is a chance of storms this afternoon. If you would like you can come pick up your children from school. If not we will resume school as scheduled and keep up with any changes in weather."

Cant start canceling school every time it fucking rains. I swear this world is filling up with a bunch of pussies because of the news. Damn, my nephews won't even go explore in the woods cause they are scared of snakes and shit. SMH

I think after disasters like this the media is good at stirring up shit, and people start to panic. They mention the kids that were killed. But that school had an enrollment of 440 kids and they lost 10 lives. When you look at what's left of the building, it's amazing to think that 420+ lives were spared. The teachers and administrators at the school should be applauded for what they were able to do.

Yea I agree. I'm not taking light anything that happened yesterday either, just saying people need to toughen up a bit. Living life scared of what's around the next corner isn't for me. Live people!!!!shit is gonna happen whether your at work, school or wherever the hell else you might be. Do your best when it happens to be safe, but don't let it run your life

GS, I left Dallas Monday around 11am. My sister lives in W Okla.. She went to visit her son the night before in Tulsa..She was going to head back to W Okla to meet up with me.. we debated whether I should go to Tulsa or have her drive back thru OK City area on her way back.. She had a stop to make in the area of Moore..We decided that I would go up Hwy 75 east of OK City to Tulsa..My sister thinks I might have saved her life. Crazy how different life directions can go.

RE...Life is full of near misses. I'm sure glad everything turned out alright for your sister. I'm heading out tomorrow to see what kind of help I can give my friend who lost his home in the tornado. Talk about bad luck, my buddy's wife is also fighting cancer. So they've really been hit by a black cloud in the last few months. I'm going to miss going to his home this year. I've attended every one of his big Super Bowl parties there for the last 25 years straight.
