If you had a chance to book 5 RELIABLE older square bettors, would you?

Forget about Iceman booking dime bettors...he wouldn't be able to sleep at night, win or lose. As far as $300 bettors go, you'll have to give them at least a $2000 to $2500 cap. With 5 players you're extending 10 to 15 dimes credit, at least, on a given day. I'd have to know these guys pretty good to give them that kind of a leash. Iceman has already explained that he feels a little inhibited about the collection part. I think it would adversely affect his gambling as well, by diverting energy and creating a distraction.

You put them on a tighter leash until you know they pay. Bookies have been doing this since the beginning of time.

And as far as effecting your gambling, trust me it helps. You have three guys down money and they're all chasing on the Browns +7 in the Sunday night game. Gee, who should I bet?

God I miss that.

When you book guys that know each other it gets a little weird. One guy will have a bad week, get capped out, and he'll get another guy to put in plays for him, then he slow pays, and maybe you have to pay his friends out at the same time. I'm sure you've seen this scenario dozens of times. It comes down to whether you want to be a bookie or not, IMO. If you just dabble in it, it'll be more hassle than it's worth. Everyone seems to blow out at some point. It's not just a series of nice little $200 to $500 a week per man settle figures. If the bettor's money is good, it's fine. But everyone's credit is good, until one day it isn't. Then it's not good. Billion dollar companies have gone bankrupt. "Reliable" square bettors are far from infallible.

mmmm.. i think mr. anti liberal is speaking from experience (or at least he has been close to someone who has booked......i will agree that "reliable square" bettors are becoming harder to find.....

as far as is it worth it....depends on the person..to each his own...gl

HAve a cell phone just for this use. Have them text in the bets. That way all the action would be tagged with the date and time. Just tell them to use that days newspaper for the lines. If they are square as you put it it won't make a difference.

I love it when people are called squares that cracks me up. We are all squares for the most part. Since about 10% of gamblers can make real money.

i've always wondered that too... y people get off calling other people squares haha.

this is how i ended up last season..

2006-2007 Season WLT Pct Units Ranking
ATS Picks 12-8-0 60.00% +1600 2375 of 20406
O/U Picks 14-6-0 70.00% +3700 706 of 17582
All Picks 26-14-0 65.00% +5300 508 of 20629

But i was using 8+ hrs a day capping. I was touting and guaranteed over 60% or money back. Wow, by the hair of my balls.

Ice, sweating games you're 500-1000 lopsided on seems like it wouldn't be a lot of fun for you......It's a job whether it's 5 or 50 guys.....takes a stone gut to enjoy it......it might, in extreme cases, cause you not to enjoy Watching football on TV........believe me, that could happen......plus, no "drinkin on the job".....
probably would just keep making a few wagers were I you......

First off I think this thread should be put into the "classic forum". One of the best threads on here concerning booking ever (IMO).

Secondly after ALOT of thought I have decided against it. I think what rdavislake (and Anti-Liberal) said in his last post was icing on the cake (plus the collection thing dont sit well with me, too many horror stories). I do bet close to 75 plays all for 1-2 units myself on Saturday and then on Sunday. Not being one to want to have to worry about being too heavy on 1 side and getting rid of some the plays would be a pain in the ass. It would be constant work trying to get off some of these bets as I dont believe in being too heavy on a play. I am all about small profits adding up.

Let me state that I think this is an absolute goldmine. If I ever lost my job I think it is something that I would pursue fully. Never underestimate +110 on 50% wagers, ALL DAY long. They add up fast. If someone can get this going, I say go for it. Like most said if you run it like a business you will win. I think for most on here that are debating on betting and dealing with the offshore mess this could be the next best thing to betting. If anyone decides to book after reading this, keep us informed as I find the subject fascinating to read about.

The last thing is and most important reason why I won't is the conflicting with my betting. I have been and will always be a bettor at heart. After truly grinding all summer betting bases (and barely winning) I am ready for some football. I have started out better than even I could have imagined betting preseason. I am of to a 44-23 start so far this year. Never in my wildest dreams would have I imagined this with preseason football but it just makes me hungrier to bet football this fall. Betting around key numbers in football means everything and it can be beat. I feel like I am in the middle of something special betting wise and really don't need the distractions and to ruin my confidence. I 100% trust what I do works, no reason to mess with it.

Thanks again everyone on here for particapating in this thread. It was one of the most educational threads I have ever read on here on what is a very intriguing business. Maybe one day in the future but not this year. I know one thing if I ever need a job in the future this will be one of the first things I look into.

I did it, and there wasn't really a hassle. Like the previous posters advised, just tell them your schedule, and they will accommodate it. They are all in one place, so there isn't any running around when square-up time arrives. I always believed that no bet was too small. The smaller players appreciate the service and your hobby pays dividends.

You could send them to betrose and you in effect woud be thier agent. No answering calls. You would have to do the collecting and payouts for a percentage of their losses.

No contact info at betrose site. How can you reach them? Who are they?
