Vanderbilt, Georgia, and Florida are good academic schools although Florida is the only one with national titles very recently. Georgia has a few SEC Titles this past decade.

The SEC doesn't even compare to the Big 10 academically. Vandy is good, but isn't Northwestern or UM. After Vandy, there is a steep drop off.

I've seen Georgia and Florida in the 50's and then the rest are in the 100's on one list with Vandy in the Top 20

However, we know the Big Ten is better academically overall. I'm not even going to try to make that argument LOL.

Georgia has improved alot academically the last few decades although still not as good as ACC's GTECH (an elite engineering school)

Hey man, I need something to hang my hat on. Have you seen Indiana and Purdue play football? They wouldn't finish in the top 20 in the SEC and there are only 12 teams.

Purdue losses to RICE
Iowa losses to IOWA STATE
Minn losses to NEW MEXICO STATE ??????

PSU destroyed by ALABAMA

OSU hangs on to defeat TOLEDO

Yes folks, the BIG TEN is rounding into the worst I've seen in my lifetime.

FH, yesterday supports your statement even further. Terrible display for the B10.

To say the least.............Michigan saved the conference from a complete disgrace.

By the way, Denard Robinson is fuking horrible..................and like last season, he will fade into obscurity. Then again, perhaps not so much, as he will be facing many horrible defenses week in and week out in the Big Ten with little team speed.

He's a fucking horrible QB for sure. He might make the NFL as a special teams and offensive weapon. He just can't throw.

B10 is not top-heavy, but it's deep.

That is because our conference requires to have more than a heartbeat and pulse to get into the school. This isn't like the SEC where reading and writing ability are optional, along with over signing.

No top football conference requires a brain pulse. Wisky and Mich are obviously strong academic schools (throw in Purdue engineering or Minn or a gaggle of other strong big ten academic programs). But every conference has strong academic schools. Also, most every school has a strong individual academic program. Loser whiner weak argument to connect academics to conference football strength.

Dont forget Northwestern. Agree the conference is down. Wisconsin may very well be numero uno in all of football before all is said and done. Not flashy but certainly have the weapons to get there.

one can hope......... Time will tell, not that far of a reach fish. Have heard from more than one of the pundits say so, Holtz for instance.

So you respect LOU HOLTZ's opinion more than mine............shame on you.

Sure he had ND in the national title picture also heading into November.

Wisky will lose as a favorite to some crap Big Ten team, if not, my hats off to them.

As expected, WISKY not the real deal.........as a few thought they were in this thread.

Not only one loss, but two losses..............before HALLOWEEN no less.

Without NEBRASKA..................Michigan and Penn State would be your best 2011 teams in the Big Ten, and both have no business being ranked in the TOP 15.

yea I was wrong on Wisky being the real deal.... I can get losing to Mich St but that team still should have been able to beat OSU... That was horrific..

How bad are the coaches in the BIG TEN currently..............gawd almighty, what a pathetic crew.

The kid at Northwestern may be the best of the bunch..............

Getting back to the quality of the Big Ten overall...............think about it, MICHIGAN and PENN STATE would be your top two teams if not for NEBRASKA......................OMG, LMFAO.

Big down year for Big Ten no doubt. With Wisky losing it doesn't set the conference up for the bigger bowls.....I agree, if this is what your agrument is about. Right now what you have to realize how young the conference is as a whole.....Look at USC tonight.........young team, had no business having any motivation to knock off Stanford let alone in the background of it all had no chance at a bowl or the conference championship......where did they find that inner motivation to persevere?.........youth.

I dont know why but i really enjoy watching big ten football over most conferences except for marquee matchups. Most of the teams play good tough straightforward ball. conference games are always hard fought. not many gimmick plays and not a whole lot of surprises. typically they make the plays that they should and dont make too many errors. just slug it out on the field and play hard. Considering i am from the west coast it makes no sense why im a fan. Then again i enjoy a close defensive game over a flashy shootout. And i do believe that the big ten topside is better then many people think. Some good defenses. BTW ohio st has really crushed me the last few weeks. dont understand why people dont load up the box and force him to complete more then 3 passes a game. But i cant blame you FishH Iowa is pretty bad this year. but i dont think it will take them long to get back.
