Larry Bird would beat either of them 1 on 1.

Can't wait to hear the responses on this one, lol.

He would beat them in horse with no dunking allowed

Um, you do realize that sports fans of all kinds have had discussions like this ever since the beginning of sports, and will do so every day until eternity?
Talking about how different athletes compare against one another is one of the fun things about following sports.

I know, people love the hypothetical, what can't really be proven. The dream matchup, comparing era's, I get it, I get it...

Still though, gotta admit it's pretty funny these 2 in 1 on 1 got more posts than who people like to win the title this year.

I mean it is 1 on 1! People aren't even arguing about who is better, or who at their apex they would rather have...

We are talking about a game of 1 on 1.

I like talking this stuff in boxing since boxing actually is a 1 on 1 sport, but basketball isn't so it just doesn't do much for me. I'd rather talk about what can/can't be proven like who looks good this year, who is overrated/who is underrated, etc. Even historical arguments are fine but something that really has nothing to do with the actual game or the framework it is played just doesn't do much for me. Just my 2 cents.

For the record neither 1 of them would be able to guard the other 1 on 1. Do you people realize how big the court is in 1 on 1? Most of the elite scorers of all time would score like 80%+ or be fouled in a game of 1 on 1 vs anyone.

Haha...just felt like changing it up. Hit a bit of a skid and figured maybe an avatar change would help. So far, so good...

There are always a few guys who act like Lebron is god walking on earth and think he is better than Kobe and Jordan. Tough to argue with them most of the time because they don't know much about basketball

i think kobe in prime vs MJ in prime is going to be very close....Kobe is a better scorer and MJ a better defender

lebron is a better defender.....no one understands this....Just cause he is big that doesn't mean he isnt' fast....lebron would keep up with MJ and then swat the ball into the 3rd row

also,

1) lebron might not yet hit his peak (scary)....he is in his prime but he hasnt' shown any decline yet..might be better next year
2) people forget how shitty MJ was his first 6 years or something.....you guys think the year he won his first of 6 rings was his rookie year....he was a ball hog, didnt' have good dribbles, his shot wasn't that great....he was like a young vince carter

100% bullshit.

Look at the stats, MJ > Kobe in every single offensive stat out there. So stop repeating this BS.

stats dont tell the whole story

1) MJ played in a softer league...."blah blah before the game was much tougher"....it is plain and simple....there is much more strategy, stats, and analyzing for defenses now....and that is not even getting into defenses using zone in today's game

2) I hate to say it but Jordan had the better cast....Someone can make a shaq argument but shaq couldn't shoot....MJ had all kinds of guys....he had pippen for one....i don't even remember his name but i think jordan had a guy who won the 3 pt contest year in and year out....jordan had a good center....kobe has had clowns like a stupid young bynum, jordan farmar, and steve blake. When you have a team that can't shoot, you are forced into taking bad shots

OMG, You're fucking high.

Are you fucking serious? Do you know anything about basketball at all? Do you know anything about the hand-checking rules that have changed in the NBA? Do you know anything about the illegal defense rules that have changes since Jordan's day? Do you know anything about the pussification of the NBA in terms of flagrant fouls since Jordan's day?

Unbelievable.

I don't hate Lebron, I think he's a great player, the best in the NBA right now. But, the stupid shit people are saying in this thread is unbelievable.

Scottie Pippen: "Jordan would average 50 with today's (pussy) hand-checking rules in place"

Watch this video, watch McHale clothesline Rambis by the neck in the playoffs on national TV. Watch it closely. Watch it very closely.

Now, notice this is the 1980's. This wasn't a flagrant foul 2. This wasn't a flagrant foul 1. McHale didn't get kicked out of the game. McHale
didn't get suspended. In the 1980's, you came into the lane, and you were going to get knocked on your ass, no questions asked. Noticed no one mentioning that McHale should get suspended or kicked out of the game, it wasn't an issue, it wasn't
even a consideration. Again, you come near the lane, and you're going to get knocked on your ass. And you try and tell
me that MJ played against softer defense, OMFG that is the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time.

Now you tell me which era had the softer league. Today's NBA is a pussified game compared to the 1980's. Ask anyone who watched the
bad-boys of the Pistons play in that era.

reality is every sport is much more advanced than the generation prior just take a look at the athletes of each generation
