I can't actually believe I am hearing this stuff..

This year, Oklahoma, OR ST, Hawaii are not elite teams.

Oklahoma has 3 losses and many many close games.

What's OR ST 8-4, 7-5?

Hawaii lost to OR ST and barely beat Purdue... Purdue was around or below 500 in the big ten.

There is no comparison... Put Boise on the field with the elite - OSU, MI, WI, FL, LSU, USC and 98/100 times, they lose.

They would win as often as OR ST beats USC - about every 3 decades.

so Boise State beats an average Oklahoma team and all of a sudden they will beat most every big name football school? You are all smoking way too much of that blue grass. They would be underdogs to at least 15 other teams on a neutral field. They had a great season, but didn't really beat anyone.

Do you guys think they would beat Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Louisville, WV, USC, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Tenn, Ark, Texas, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame? They would lose to every one of these teams at least 6 out of 10 times.

Get off the bandwagon people.

They certainly would be a DOG to most if not all those teams on a neutral field.............but then they were to OKLAHOMA too.

Who really knows exactly how good this BOISE STATE team is/was..........their schedule keeps everyone guessing.

2 losses is being nice. They would not finish at .500 in conference play in any major conference, Big East included.

Absolutely.

beat Nevada 38-7 on the road, beat Utah 36-3 on the road, beat Oregon St 42-14 who beat USC. Beat San Jose Sate on the road. Beat what I think is a top 10 team in HAwaii. was beating Big 12 Champions Oklahoma by 18 points before they got bored.
with a OSU lose and based purely on this season's results they would get my vote for #1 but im sure they will not get it with most voters. no playoffs is really sad!

What if Ohio State had USC's schedule, think they would have lost 4 or 5. WAC was 4-0 ats in bowl games. I can see with all the retards in this thread alone not to mention in this country that Oklahoma went from 4 to an 8 point favorite. SEC looks like garbage, espeically if they must play a road game. There is no such thing as a competent offense in the Big 10 or the SEC this year.:youmad:

It wasnt hard to see that Boise came out and did their thing and held their own for awhile, but Oklahoma figured them out and adjusted very well to them. And thats Oklahoma.... A team that really wasnt a top 10 team this year. They were a nice solid team, but I'd hardly award anyone a National Championship for beating Oklahoma, Hawaii and Nevada - that's retarded.

Boise needs to up the ante on their schedule.

I agree 100%.

I think a big win like this bowl game will help them get some bigger names on their schedule. Keep in mind not many big schools want to schedule a school like Boise because it is really a no win situation for the bigger school. You either win a game you were expected to win (against a team more talented than most on your schedule) or you lose to a small school you are suppose to dominate.

I think now they have enough credibility to where a big school might play them.

Although they didn't play big time schools, at the time they set the schedule, Utah was a pretty big game. Oregon State was also a pretty nice step up from WAC competition.

If Boise thought they had a hard time getting a game before, they will never get one now. Same with Louisville.

BINGO

They have proven:

a) they can win big games (unlike Michigan)
b) they can come back when they're down (unlike LSU)
c) they can play consistantly for the whole season (unlike USC)

Now that is funny. Oklahoma went into this game ranked 7th or 8th in the AP, USA Today, and Harris Polls, and if not for a bullshit loss to Oregon, debatably may be ranked ahead of Florida and playing for the national championship.

Poll dynamics, right? I believe Oklahoma was ranked in the top 5 to start the season, I think Florida was behind them in the polls and Michigan well behind them. Assuming the Oregon debacle didn't happen, Oklahoma would have probably dropped behind Florida after losing to Texas, but likely would have leapfrogged back ahead of Florida after the loss to Auburn one week later. They would have leapfrogged Michigan in the same manner Florida did after Michigan's loss.

In other words, if Oklahoma wasn't a top 10 team, neither was Florida. I agree with the general concensus that Boise State would not go undefeated in a BCS conference. But they have as much size, speed, and depth as either Louisville or West Virginia.

Discounting their performance because they beat a "non top 10 Oklahoma" team is silly. Oklahoma is and was one of the best teams in the country. They got beat by a team that no other team in the country wants to play in that situation because it is a lose-lose scenario.

What?

You're acting like the Big East is trash to say "Big East included". The Big East is FROM TOP TO BOTTOM one of the best and most balanced conference out there.

Tell me where the two losses in the Big 12 would come from - I give you Texas (maybe) and that is it.

Tell me where the two losses in the ACC would come from - and before you say Va Tech is one of them, let me remind you that Va Tech's offense can't score 20 points on ANYONE.

Great post.

One other thing is that Oklahoma was a team that was getting better and better. Beating them at the beginning of the season would have been a lot easier than beating them in January.

The ELITE BCS mentality is like this:

If a non-BCS school beats a BCS school, they say "Well, the Sooners weren't that good anyways" or "They beat Oklahoma but they couldn't have beaten Texas".
