i don't know much about top-end toshiba's and i believe they're only in their 2nd generation. with high-end laptops occupying such a small segment of the rapidly dwindling laptop market, there just isn't much 'buzz' about laptops anymore.. including apple.
if i had a gun to my head and had to choose between the samsung 9+ (NP940X3G) and toshiba touchscreen models you're considering, $100 alone would not be enough to sway me towards the toshiba. the ATIV 9 Series has an excellent reputation, premium design, and solid build quality. so honestly the toshiba would have to come in well below it for me to really consider it. i generally trust toshiba as a brand, but it doesn't excite me in the ultrabook segment. that being said, if you've had great experiences with toshiba in the past, that's important too. what do the owner reviews say about that model?
have you looked into the ASUS Zenbook UX301? when it comes to super high-res touchscreen ultrabooks, that's pretty much the best model next to the Samsung 9+. there's a lot of discussion and owner reviews for each of those on the notebook review forum. Fujitsu makes a top-end ultrabook and is a favorite among the die-hard notebook lovers who are willing to spend around $2K. outside of that, there just isn't much around unless you're willing to consider HP, Dell, or Lenovo.
i'm still waiting for the 2014 ATIV 9 non-touchscreen with Haswell and AC WiFi (NP900X3G). it was supposed to be out here already, but is a bit behind schedule.. new ETA is mid to late april. it's been released in Korea and parts of Europe so far and the few reviews that do exist thus far are very good. that's the only real option for me when it comes to a super-light weight, business-oriented ultrabook. Sony makes the Vaio Pro 13 in a non-touchscreen version and it's super light weight as well, but they just sold the Vaio brand so who knows.
i've ruled out the 2014 Lenovo X1 Carbon because it's way overpriced for what it is and they changed the keyboard too dramatically.
