If some entity in this industry had the credibility of an IBM and was willing to provide each and every gambler 5k worth of insurance to sign up with established offshore sports books, would it convert people who were on the fence to send money abroad?

What do you guys think?

Thanks,

SHRINK, if this was set-up and I sent $500 to an established book, then won 5k after. (Balance of $5500 now) Then the book goes down, I get 5K back correct?

Thanks

The time to do something like that is after a major book crashes. People get panicky

Security doesnt seem to be nearly as hot of a topic as before, and It's becuase we have'nt seen anyone go down in flames in a while

shrink...........I dont think it would make that much of a difference.....

1. the gambler who bets locally is a different "type" of bettor than the offshore gambler...

sure it would make the gamblers who have been stiffed by offshore books that folded, feel more secure........

imo.....the issue of gambling offshore verses locally is a matter of convenience....some of you may think that punching some computer keys and using your credit card is the easiest......while others think a phone and a line of credit is the best way......

offshore books and the gamblers who use them (myself included) should understand this...........the gambling laws are what will affect this industry in the coming decade.......not a credible entity insuring players funds....

Nor is right except that in a hypothetical question, you are supposed to go with the "facts" given......

Noreaga,

I am not talking about this site offering the insurance...

And as someone so astutely pointed out, this is only a hypothetical for now...

Shawn,

Not really...

I believe 5k would cover 90% of gamblers, particularly those who haven't ever crossed the fence yet to try gambling abroad...

Those who have KNOW books like Pinnacle, Grande, Cris, WSEX and so forth will pay out much more and always do in a timely manner...

Why would YOU need or want it if you already KNOW these books ALWAYS pay? :icon_conf

It would be a real confidence booster to people new to offshore gaming. It took me months of looking into offshore books before I ever opened an account, and it was the uncertainty that did it. I'm sure there are lots of people who simply don't trust the industry yet.
