The hurricane is gonna stimulate the economy a bit I suppose. Gotta look at the positives. Someone has to fix all the broken shit.

Only for some though ! Otherwise why not just stimulate the economy by blowinf up some bridges and dams and levees ?

There will be uninsured people losing homes and going on Welfare, insurors taking losses, etc. Destruction of property and infrastructure cannot be good for the country as a whole.

Some would say War is good for the economy, maybe so if you work for Electric Boat and build nuke submarines, but WW3 isn't going to be great for most.

Who could possible benefit from WW3 if they use nuclear weapons to destroy each other?

I love TWC.
The TWC talking head was interviewing stoner surfer dude on Virginia Beach, TWC anchor says, "are you worried"?, Stoner surfer dude says "just waiting for bigger waves man" (in a stoned surfer accent)
TWC anchor follows up with "have you done anything differently in the last 24 hours in preparation for this killer sorm"?
Stoner surfer dude says "just waiting for bigger waves man" :missingte

Back in the good old days there would be lines on this stuff....

Where does it make landfall ?

How much property damage will occur ?

How many dead ?

What time does it hit ?

What will the barometric pressure be in NYC at noon ( EDT) at JFK airport, over/ under 29.8 whatevers....

and other stuff

then guys like Fishhead would scalp the hurricane props between the books.

stores are out of staple stuff like batteries, fleshlights, plywood water, etc. Cheese and Rice it's going to rain hard and be very windy on Sunday in CT, not like WW3 ( the really big one) is starting.

Most of us probably have enough canned crap and boxes of cereal, crackers, jars of nuts, etc. to easily last a week anyway. Most every American is fat enough already to go a week with nothing but water.

huge over-reaction in CT, I can see seriously getting out of Dodge if on the outer banks of NC, maybe get inland to like Fayetteville area....even though it is ghetto, or go past there.

I will admit to buying a wet/ dry vac and a dehumidifier a couple of days ago at Home depot, just in case I need them ( home is for sale), but those are going back to the store...used or unopened, preferably the latter. I won't be able to buy them on Monday....

Went out this afternoon, being away for over a week in Vegas... didn't keep anything stocked.
It was a Mad house in the Stores. Picked up a few things to get by on.. Water, Soda, a few snacks, propane for the Grill......

In the event of a global nuke war, I believe some segment of humanity would survive, there are some really remote areas of the world.

Maybe those selling passage to such sheltered areas, but that would suck as well. I don't think you win by having a million ounces of Gold and living in a bomb shelter underground on some island eating MREs.

That is probably why there has not been a sequel to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.... ( yet).

It is bound to happen once these mad dictators have the ability.

I think people ( in the East) are obsessed with water. Just save like 10 or (however many you want ) empty milk jugs and fill them up with fresh tap water....same shit as bottled water.

ain't like we be in the desert, Mike ! Make sure you have that pop, too ! LOL

This NY/ New England reaction is over the top. It's a category one at best/ ( worst ? ).

I won't be able to have any water is ridicurous. There are ways to make water from rivers and lakes potable. Your water source is unlikely to fail, anyway !

If my water source failed, I could go half a mile to a crick and get water to make my turlet at least flush. I wouldn't drink that water straight, but good enough for a gravity flush.

Pure panic, IMO...but I'm in CT, not NC !

I'd take this for real if in Eastern NC and points NNW of there, like DC.

HaHa... you remember that I Love Soda... BUT, I have cut down Big time on the Stuff, as I finally figured that it's bad for you.

But you are Right about the water...which I drink a lot of now a days.
picked up 1 case of Bottled water, and have filled two empty 1/2 gallons with tap.
Guess I will just fill the Tub with water.... and like you said, use as a Flush if need be.

Have a couple of coolers where I can always throw any Meats, etc and will use the Grill to BBQ and make some Breakfast...

I'm only guessing but when you see them Stop all Mass transit, you have to think this might be for real.
Overall I think Most will be alright. Since I am on the north shore of LI, I think I will be alright.
If Power goes down, I think it will be only for a day... maybe two. So it won't be like we are on an tropical Island with no Power or Food.

Well I took my precautions. I put two bungee cords around the gas BBQ securing it to a pole, it once blew over and came close to breaking a glass patio door.

Charged up my two Ni-cad rechargeable flashlights, those batteries don't hold a charge long-term. gassed up the car, truck has half a tank ( good enough). Bought a 30 pack of beer and a bottle of Vodka I'll fill a couple of empty Gatorade type bottles with tap water....that's about it for me.

Plenty of stuff like nuts and crackers, peanut butter, fruit, canned tuna , bread etc laying around.

Nobody is going to starve to death over this. Somebody will surely die trying to surf the waves and dumb shit like that, though.

I live on the east coast of Florida and just got back from surfing. There is still 8 foot waves down here.

No, Mike, I don't remember that you love pop, I point out that it is no necessity. North shore LI is like 20 nautical miles from me, but I could "Shirley" evacuate very easily from the CT side of the sound, that ain't gonna happen even if it did I could head NW easily from here, unlike being on LI.

I wouldn't move an inch unless this were at least a " 3" from my position.

You also have to worry about tornadoes if you 75 miles inland.

But at least it's not Alabama. In Alabama a tornado and divorce mean the same thing ... Somebody's losing their mobile home.
