Never understood my mlb waits to make up DH in late Aug and Sept, when they could make up April and May washouts in during the early part of the season.

Why are NYY and Bmore playing 5 in 4. They couldn't make up that game earlier, give me a break.

Good luck to you all on the east coast.

It ain't Andrew, you don't have shit to be worried about.

Don't want to sound like Chicken Little with the "sky is falling", but, the Meteorological Center, just said the entire Eastern Seaboard from NC to Boston and everything in between is going to get croaked, with "a direct hit in New York City" a very real possibility.

Needless to say, all games, from amateur to professional, (that's a lot of games) will be cancelled.

Will this here thread include a link to the upcoming "Hurricane Irene InGame Thread"?

Sure looks like Eastern NC and areas NNW of there will be hit really hard. I believe it will lose a lot of steam ( being over land) by the time it gets to NYC. There is good reason why hurricanes are rare in NY and New England. Good luck to those hit hardest. I'm expecting it to be just a strong tropical storm by the time it reaches me in SE Conn but it will still do a lot of flood damage as a TS or cat 1 with the already saturated grounds here.

I'm sure not going out and buying bottled water and panicking up here. I would head inland if on the outer banks.

Of course it could always jog East and nail Long Island, Ct, RI, Mass. Best wishes to all....it's going to hit hard somewhere.

Certainly on track to do a Hell of a lot of damage on the heavily populated Eastern seaboard if it follows that path just up the coastline for 500+ miles as a cat 1 Hurricane !

You'll be glad that you went. You don't want to be stuck in that mess.

I live on the south shore of Long Island and we received an automated call, last night, that we are in a storm surge/evacuation zone. The house I live in is right up agains the end of a canal, so major flooding is probable.

Have to see how this is tracking by Saturday, to see if we're going to high tail it out or ride it out.

Anybody that's planning to evacuate from areas that are flood prone or subject to storm surge be sure to contact your power (and gas) providers to see if you need to shut off power at the main circuit box.

Everybody be safe and smart. :103631605

Dude don't wait, be safe and go away for the weekend. This thing may pick up speed and be all over you by Sat.

Trust me, any other weekend and we would have headed up to my family's house in New Hampshire already. The problem is, the soccer club my daughter plays in is running the biggest youth soccer tournament in the Northeast, this weekend. They still have not canceled. Since i'm a coach, i'm obligated to coordinate a field site for the club.

Will play it by ear, and obviously do what is best for my family, but the soccer tournament is complicating things. The club receives hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue from this tournament and if they start games on Saturday, no refunds are issued. Obviously, they are motivated to get games started.
