I'm serious...you couldn't pay me 5 million dollars to do that. half way through this video already and my palms are sweaty and my feet are tingling like a mofo.

It's better than climbing some sheer rock cliff. At least you know the handholds and footholds are solid. It might exhaust you though ?

I wonder what these guys make ?

I would imagine climbing back down is about 50 times harder....much better chance of slipping or losing your balance.

I might give it a shot for a few million.Any fall over 40' is the same as falling 1700' IMO. I don't want to survive a 40-100' fall ( that would be horrible), over 100' and you should be assured of death if hitting a hard surface.

Problem is the climb might be more physically challenging than I imagine, it would suck to start cramping up halfway up ( or down) !

is it true that if you fall from an insanely high drop that you die before you hit the ground? or are you just unconscious because a state of shock?

I mean sky divers don't die before they hit the ground...so in a sense that is a pretty dumb question...but they KNOW they have parachutes and chances of survival are very good.

no parachute you KNOW your dying and smacking that damn ground. so maybe heart attack? shock?

I turned it off...I simply couldn't watch it anymore. Shit made me so nervous you couldn't pay me enough. I'd be up there clamping each rung of the bars.

I don't know, but that sounds like a myth to me. I think you die from the impact ( hopefully). You don't want to survive it, at least I don't !

OMFG

He jumped out of his open gondola, and began falling. By 90,000 feet, he had reached about 1,149 km/hr - faster than the speed of sound. He fell in free fall for about four-and-a-half minutes. His speed gradually reduced to around 200 km/hr as he dropped though the increasingly-thicker air. His parachute opened around 14,000 feet. There was a sudden jerk as his speed suddenly dropped to around 21 kph. He landed about 12 minutes later, with no permanent injuries. He still holds two records - the only person to break the sound barrier without being in a craft, and the highest parachute jump.

pilots seem awfully high on this list, since jets rarely crash in the US, it's almost all amateurs like Munson, Lidle, JFK jr.

Climbers death rates seem low compared to say truckers. I guess these climbers are like a elite athletes compared to an average trucker, though ! I hope they get at least $100/hour for doing this.

How is a fisherman high on that list? What is so dangerous about that job?

Commercial stuff in Alaska.

So what? Maybe I don't know as much as I think about commercial fishing but it doesn't seem too dangerous. I can imagine being a taxi cab driver in NYC would be much more dangerous. Either a cab driver or one of PO69's patients.
