i love espn, i watch the game highlights for outcomes.... i do see your point about creating the story, there is nothing i hate more than polling in college football. who gives a shit what people think teams are supposed to do

for me, it's because they've morphed into your typical media gotcha outlet. They sell their narrative, they create stories and they use their clout to the detriment of some schools

they used to be about sports, now they might as well cover politics

Exactley. just like Mike Sam shower story. What NFL team needs the headache on a borderline player.
ESPN may be the reason Sam isn't on an NFL team right now. What NFL team wants to have to put out fires of an ESPN faggot alert every 5 minutes or deal with a boycott or bad press because of a perceived slight by ESPN.

From my observations, ESPN has at least one talking head that doesn't like "your" team...or a player that is loved by "your" team's fan base.

I'm a Florida Gators fan. I read the Gator message boards and ANY time Tebow gets ripped the board blows up. Honestly, most Gator fans think it's some sort of conspiracy that Tebow isn't playing in the NFL....that all 32 teams are in cahoots to keep him out of the league. And most of them think it's because of his religion (not the fact he can barely throw a spiral). I loved him as a college football player, but am not so blind that I can't see why he's not playing in the NFL.

ESPN went from reporting the story to making/creating the story (the Tebow lovefest, Manziel, Michael Sam, LLWS).
If they don't have the rights to something, it barely causes a blip on their radar (NHL, Pac-12 until last year).
Their hosts all try to be the next Berman ans they all fail. Just report the damn news.
Also the Jimmy V Foundation, ESPY's - ESPN/Disney creations that are just forced on the public.
Disney morals are shoved down all the employees throats - they pick and choose what's right and wrong. Look at the recent Max Kellerman suspension for proof, yet hiring Ray Lewis is a good idea.
If its a story that is a conflict of interest - its not getting reported.

At least the 30 for 30 series is great.

pretty much this. and the 30 for 30 is great, basically because its done by non-espn people.

the network has basically become a parody of itself. and they barely show highlights anymore, just a bunch of people yelling at each other.

I don't hate it, but watch much less.

Too many non-stories being blown up and their political agenda have turned me away from anything except live sports and the occasional Sport Center viewing.

That's a good point about ESPN being a reason Sam doesn't catch on.

Agree. A very little bit of highlights, but that's it. It's unwatchable. They signed a 10 year soccer deal so they will be shoving it down our throats for the next 9 years. Good luck trying to get any info about the NHL.

That was a spot on assessment about why Michael Sam won't ever play in the NFL. ESPN may hire him though.
