Sure they can. Those rules don't apply to Games deciding World Series. Those are outdated rules and very unfair. All I want is fairness in grading of bets. Also I don't have time to read the rules, I'm to busy arguing with you and the Fishhead. I assumed the rules would be fair, mirror baseball rules, and follow common sense. I wouldn't expect rules to be outdated.
It was a wager on a baseball game. Baseball game rules apply. Read them. End of story.

Illini,

This is the most unfair rule around. When I make a bet I expect it to be graded fairly. Paying Philly bettors and stealing from T.B. bettors is ridicouslly unfair. I've lost all trust, will no longer have any loyalty to my book. I'v complained in the past, but my complaints have fallen on deaf ears. I hate to say, but this industry is run by a bunch of morons. Common sense would allow for the fair thing to be done but these morons don't use common sense. At the end of the day I don't have a leg to stand on. I have to accept the unfairness and stupidity of this outdated, kindergardish rule. This incident has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will use this experience to quash my gambling habits. Congrats to everybody that had Philly on the 5 inning line and the 9 inning line. :toast:

You shouldn't expect that your bet should be graded according to what a bettor thinks is fair. It should be graded according to the rules that are in place, however fair or unfair they might be.

Don't agree. If a book post a bad rule they should be subject to losses due the bad rule. A similar example is when a book post a bad line and a bettor takes advantage of this bad line and hits for a large win. The bookie won't always pay, most of the time bet would be canceled. Well if you argue a Rule is a Rule, no matter how bad it is, than a line is a line no matter how bad it is.

No, it's not the same, because everyone knows what a bad line is, and everyone knows that those aren't getting paid. And it says in the rules at every place that bad lines will be voided.

The only thing relevant is what it says in the rules. By placing a bet, you are agreeing to those rules. If you don't like those rules, then bet with a friend.

Illini,

I'm just feeling sorry for myself. I've complained about this rule after the White Sox -Baltimore Game. I want the rule changed. The rule should mirror baseball rules. If a game is suspended the bet show carryforward, with conditions. As long as the score is tied player can opt out of bet. The rule in place now is unfair. If I wanted my bet to be graded after 5.5 innings I would have bet the 5 inning line. The rule should be based on the intent of the bettor. The bettors intent is obvious. Bets are made base on the final score of the game. After all this debating, I believe I just came up with the greatest argument of all. Rule needs to changed to factor in bettors intent.

I don't disagree with you that it needs to be changed. But it needs to be changed beforehand. It's like the election of 2000, with all those tools looking at ballots trying to figure out the intent of the ballot, when the machine had already graded them. You can't change the rules in progress.
