ok
do you have a list of Thomas big hits?
tia

your the only one questioning Thomas as a HOF player..... Dude was one of the most feared hitters in baseball in his era.. to get 2 MVP's I'm sure there were some big hits..I also didn't see the fluctiation in Thomas frame over the years, unlike the other cheaters.... Unless some evidence comes forward, I have to believe Thomas was clean his whole career...I don't even remember a rumor with Thomas with PED's

You misunderstood my post
I was not questioning Thomas being a hof'er
All I was saying was these arrogant voters somehow decided that Thomas did not do steroids and bagwell did.
When they have the same exact amount of evidence on Thomas as they do bagwell which is zero.

Its crazy how these voters are playing god deciding which players took them and which players did not take them.

I am not talking about players like arod or palmero who they do have should proof on.

Im talking about people like bagwell and piazza who they don't have a single shread of proof whatsoever other then they think he looks like a guy who might have took them.

What makes these voters so special to think they can decided that Thomas did not do them but bagwell did when they have the same exact amount of evidence on both which is zero.

There is no question bagwell would have been first ballot if not for steroid assumption

Yea, I did misunderstand it.. I don't have an opinion with Bagwell.. I also never have suspected Bagwell.. I do see Bagwell making it, Piazza is a no brainer IMO..

So how do these voters decide that Thomas did not take them but bagwell did when they have the same evidence on both which is zero?
There is no doubt that both piazza and bagwell would have both got in this season without steroid assumption.
Thats not even a debate.
So what this basically means is these voters are basically playing god deciding without any evidence at all which ones took them and which ones did not.

As much of a snake as I think the voter who said we won't vote for anyone who played in the last 20 years.

I can at least respect his stance a little bit more then those people who vote yay or nay based on what they think based on no evidence at all.

But then again I don't understand why I'm wasting my time talking about such an irrelevant group as the baseball hof
Which is supposed to have the best players of alltime but yet the alltime hits leader is not there, the alltime home run hitter is not there. And the greatest power pitcher of the last 50 years is not there.

Frank Thomas is my childhood favorite athlete. 1st ballot HOF'er, loved it!

Biggio should have got those last 2 votes

if you leave the steroid issue out of this, Thomas is still a no brainer, Bagwell is on the fence imo.. I don't have an issue with Bagwell getting in, but this is not a slam dunk in my mind.. When I think of the HOF, I think Thomas, Bagwell doesn't neccessarily enter my mind

Biggio had a better whole career then thomas

and bagwell was also better

why does bagwell get the steroid treatment by the voters but Thomas does not?

These voters should be shot.

They are punishing bagwell because they think he looks like a guy who might have took steroids but for some reason Thomas is ok.

such bullshit

Bagwell is the best 1st baseman I have ever seen

Biggio certainly is not a 1st ballot Hall of Famer, not even close. Big John Mize had to wait over over a decade to get in and he was far, far better player than Biggio. DiMaggio didn't even get in on his first chance.

Please let's not be upset about Biggio not getting in.

Only reason Joe D was not first ballot was because the HOF was brand new back when he was first eligible and it was almost impossible for first year eligible players back then to get in because the backlog of all time greats like Cy Young, Ruth and Gerrig still had to be nominated because the HOF was not around at the end of there careers.
It took over 10 years for the HOF to catch up to adding those players who retired years before the HOF started.

The older players that never got in took priority over the new players like Joe D.

So the only reason he did not get in the first time was on a technicality.

And as for Biggio not being close to a first ballot HOF'er.

You dont consider only being 2 votes short close?
As a matter of fact thats the closest anyone has ever come to being 1st ballot without getting in in the history of the HOF.

And my post was more in reference to Bagwell not getting in due to steroid assumption then it had to do with Biggio.

Biggio is not in the steroid assumption category so his vote had no effect on what I was talking about.

So I dont understand how you read into my post the way you did.

Who is to say Biggio wasn't on roids ? The Astros certainly had one of the strongest steroid environments during his career in Houston (Caminiti, Bagwell, etc) Just because you have a small frame doesn't mean you aren't juicing, lots of tiny guys have been caught over the years, you don't have to be musclebound. If the same millin dollar bet was on the line with Biggio I'd probably have to bet he used PED's

Frank Thomas was a Tight End in college. he was always big. He was a natural athlete. His game style and size had never changed his entire career. He was drafted knowing he had pure power. Not the nicest guy during his entire career, but he didn't take steroids. Same can be said for country strong Jim Thome. Some guys, you just know. Sometimes, stereotypes are true. Frank Thomas was one of the most feared hitters of his generation.

Biggio was a stat stuffer, much like Rafeal Palmeiro. You last 20 years. You're bound to have a lot of records and stats. You have to look at things subjectively. Hall of Fame, is not just about who is the best, and had the best numbers. But the impact on the game. For that reason Biggio deserves in. On the radio, they were talking about Joe Namath not being deserving of being in the NFL HOF. Because he had more int.'s than td's. But he is known for the most historic game in NFL history. So for that alone, he deserves to be in.
