Military gets paid on the 1st and the 15th so they should have no impact if this is settled in the next two weeks. If not, they get the same money, but just late. Obama paid the non-essential government workers who sat home once a deal was reached. Let's hope this time they don' et paid for not working or at least have to use vacation time.

My brother works in DC in the Department of Education. He says they have to wait until Monday to log online and go thru a formal shutdown process. It depends on what they decide but in the past they still get paid for not working. Congressman still get paid. That my friends is fucked up

Why do dems continue this stupid talking point?

You need 60 votes in the Senate to get it done. This is a math test. Can it get done without Dem votes in the senate? Yes or no?
There was a BIPARTISAN agreement that was rejected by Trump (read Stephen Miller)

This idiot has no clue what is going on because he’s too busy watching Fox News, playing golf, tweeting, and paying off porn stars.

President Trump did not approve an outline of his immigration policy crafted by top Homeland Security staff at a bipartisan meeting with lawmakers on immigration two weeks ago.

A lawmaker who attended the televised meeting earlier this month tells The Washington Post that after Trump ordered cameras out of the room, the president reacted in surprise and shock to the summary of his policy positions on immigration that Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and her staff passed out.

Trump reportedly outwardly expressed frustration that he was unaware of the outline until the meeting, saying he disagreed with the four-page document's "must haves" and proposals for an immigration deal.

The president told lawmakers gathered in the meeting to disregard the outline, which listed several of his key proposals, including $18 billion in funding for a border wall.

"It's like the wedding where someone actually stands up and objects to the wedding," the lawmaker told the Post. "It was that moment."

During the televised portion of the meeting, Trump said that any legislative solution for the thousands of "Dreamers," immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as children, should be a "bill of love."

Democrats pushed for a legislative fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that was ultimately stonewalled by Trump and Republican leaders in the Senate, resulting in a federal shutdown at midnight on Friday.

There was a BIPARTISAN agreement that was rejected by Trump (read Stephen Miller)

He had to reject it, it was a terrible deal that offered broad amnesty with limited changes to immigration in the long-term.

That might have bi-partisan support with the people that fund campaigns and lobbyists but not the people. And don’t link some poll that asks misleading questions about amnesty.

The VAST majority of people support DACA

- McConnell blocked a 3 day extension
- Paul Ryan blocked a Durbin-McConnell deal
- John Kelly blocked a Schumer-Trump deal
- Trump and Paul Ryan are blocking negotiations
(twitter)

obviously the democrats are entirely to blame here

They support letting them stay in exchange for massive changes to the immigration system. And even then, support is pretty lukewarm. If you think American citizens are losing sleep over illegal aliens status being up in the air, you're out of your mind.

Letting them stay with no changes/concessions would be a disaster. I.e a "Clean Dream Act"

These deals are all terrible thus it would be stupid to pass them is what you seem to be missing.

The House GOP DACA bill would criminalize legalized Dreamers if they failed to maintain an income insufficiently above the poverty line (link: https://www.cato.org/blog/securing-americas-future-act-net-negative-immigration-system) cato.org/blog/securing-…

The worst enforcement provision is criminalizing simply being in the United States without status or violating any aspect of civil immigration law (p. 170). This would turn millions of unauthorized immigrants into criminals overnight. It would also criminalize legal immigrants who fail to update their addresses, carry their green card with them at all times, or otherwise abide by the million inane regulations that Congress imposes on them. Take, for example, the status provided to Dreamers in this bill. It requires them to maintain an annual income of at least 125 percent of the poverty line (p. 396). If they fall below that level for 90 days—not only are they subject to deportation again—they would be criminals. This bill literally criminalizes poverty among Dreamers. This legislation would immediately undo much of the progress that the Feds have made on criminal justice reform and reducing its prison population.

Can you show me a poll where they polled an even amount of Dems, Independants, and Republicans?

Usually they poll around 1000 people and 40% or more are dems and that makes the poll biased
