A typical Sunday night at my house...I'm in the front room watching football/playing poker, and my wife is in the bedroom watching "Desparate Housewives!" It's all good, though, she's down with my work, though she'd rather have me finish college. I have to keep reminding her, "Why would I want to spend good money that will only enable me to make less money at a job I won't like?" lol. I started playing poker seriously 4 months before we got married. I put 100$ into Party Poker. 26 months later, between Poker and and Football, I've rolled that original 100$ into close to 40,000$ While going to school or working part time for most of that time. Yup, I'm braggin', lol. I've had bad, over 1000$ losses on 5-6 days over the course of that time, but she takes it in stride, like I try to, lol. It always helps to be a winner, and you are Mr. Newlywed, so your wife's overreaction is strange, and alarming! I'm not someone who thinks a wife is worth giving up your hobbies/money over, sorry to say! I'm too selfish! As I said, I have a supportive wife, who even paid the bills while I was going to school (or back to school, I should say, I'm 36), allowing me to build my bankroll.BOL:digit:

To those with "jobs" / wife / kids... I go with the theory of having 5% of your income spread among 3-4 accounts, betting 2-3% of your bankroll on each game.. This is of course, after you invest all you can in your company sponsored 401k plan, which is not gambling, lol.. Mr. Newlywed, do not spoil her, think of the bratty kid, its not the kids fault, the kid will always want to get away with whatever he can.. Same thing brother, gl..

Woman/ Ha Ha

Has any one heard of the new show called " How to train your husband like a dog" Its supposed to be airing on the network soon. What the hell has this world come to when women have a show like this? If it was " How to train your wife like a bitch or hoe" the whole would be up in arms. HA

note to Mr TigerBait,

My previous post to "Tiger" was addressed to Mr Newlywed, who was affectionately referred to as Tiger under a previous posting persona by many of his admirers<FOLLOWERS>.

Mr NW. Yes, I'm aware of your good fortune in hitting the lotto. After the Jag for wifey, the jewelry, and the Keno trip last Spring, its good you still have some of that left.

Who do you like in the SC matchup this week?

Well, there are females that look at these forums as well, not all males......but is it really necessary to call your new wife a b---ch?? Be thankful she lets you watch football. I know many males who wives and girlfriends wont even let them watch sports. Let her enjoy the goods and prove to her you can keep winning :)

When she is being reasonable, show her the big picture. Let her know that you don't gamble more than you can afford to lose and that it provides you with some entertainment.
Good luck

I think that is the solution here. Try to show her the BIG picture, which is "results over time" vs. a one day payout. Maybe common sense will prevail. If not......piss in her sock drawer!!! :suomi:

Funny, i think all women are like that. when you are winning, everything is fine....but you lose one week and the world is going to end. dont tell her how much you are up though (give a really rough estimate)....or she'll take everything and buy something big. aaah, the ups and downs of gambling and women.

Mr. Newlywed,

Here's what you do (Tom Leykis style)...next time she starts complaining, tell her to "shut up, now!"...she'll be taken back and not know what to say...if she ever mentions anything about leaving you because of gambling, call her bluff and tell her, "you'd like to see her try"...trust me, it will work...hang in there my friend...

i'm married.... gambled before my wife and will after - if i outlive her.

i told her when we were getting married - 2 things, i will always gamble on sports and i will play golf one day a week, everything else i don't care.

she never asks how much we win or lose, but i'll throw her a little extra even though she works and has her own money too, when things are going well, but not too much that she thinks i've hit it big. but i've dated girls who as soon as you have to pay, think you are a degenerate or have a problem.

If you were using gambling as a living, and she knew that going in...then screw her...

But if this is a hobby, and you would rather take that over her, you need to get rid of her and do her the favor.

I'm in my early 20's and I live with my woman. I'm trying to find a "real" job and I gamble for supplemental income (and to buy her a ring). When I met her I hid a lot of it from her. But now I am straight up. She is more interested in what I do and actually is one of the only women I know that has heard the word parlay before and could give you a definition.

But if you would seriously give up your wife because she shit a brick over you losing money then you probably should be single. Or you need to explain in more detail what you are doing, how you are doing it, and why.

When I started my bankroll for the college football season I hit a 4 team parlay. Then I multiplied that by nearly 8x. I cashed out some and will be set for the rest of college and basketball. SHE UNDERSTANDS that every single bet I make from this point on is with "House Money" because I told her and showed her.

You need to do a better job of explaining this to her...maybe she'll be more forgiving...but if you seriously would leave a woman who didn't agree with your gambling or got pissed when you lost...why the hell did you marry her anyways? Her being upset trumps all those other things and is worth kicking her to the curb...I'm sorry but that is ridiculous...

And saying losing access to a SPORTS GAMBLING FORUM was the last straw...that's right up there with some of the weirdest things I've heard a person admit to...no more Rx now could divorce people...damn this place is powerful...

I see them divorced in about 5 years after she has bullied the life out of him and created a disgruntled vegetable!!!!
