For anyone who cares I am betting the Steelers on the Money Line and here are some of the reasons why....
Pittsburgh has a ton of playoff experience compared to the Packers not to mention big game experience in the regular season along with the best defense in football.
I look for the Steelers to put some points on the board.
Led by Ben Roethlisberger, who scrambles with the best of them and throws to some of the fastest wide outs in football, he has a great receiving corps with burners Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders. Add future HOFer Heinz Ward and battle tested and very dependable TE Heath Miller to that group and its a toss up which team has the better receivers.
On the ground Rashard Mendenhall has an excellent shot at winning this years MVP of the game thanks to the weak Packer run defense. My Prop of the game Mendenhall over 78.5 yards rushing for two units.
Mike Tomlin is light years better than previous Steeler HC Bill Cowher who was a special team specialist Rah Rah type who got lucky and won a Super Bowl..Tomlin appears quiet and subdued but he is true riverboat gambler compared to Cowher and this Steeler team shows it..
These Steelers will get carried out on their shields for him if he asks them to.
Tomlin with one Super Bowl under his belt is building a legacy with of all people Big Ben and a great defense leading the way..
The Steeler Defense is a perfect counter for the high wire act Packer offense. The Packers have almost no experience against a lightning fast 3-4 AFC Dee that the Steelers deploy. This defense will have it's way with the vaunted Packer Off line..
A group led by James Harrison, Lamarr Woodley and Troy Palamalu (lets give Brett Keisel honorable mention also) and company is like nothing the Packers faced all year.
Throw in a slew of defensive backs that are big game proven even if they are not pro bowlers (except for Palamalu) and you have the real reason the Steelers are a great bet.
As a group without a big time run game to worry about they will chase down Aaron Rodgers and limit his scrambling which will cripple the Packer attack. Big Ben is a bull who is just hard to bring down, Rodgers relies on speed but in this case he is facing more speed than he has seen all year. Lets see who wins that match up.
The Steeler front seven will shut down the Packers ground game giving cagey Steeler Def Coord. Dick LeBeau a free hand to use nickel and dime packages and edge blitzes etc to make life miserable for Aaron Rodgers. They could have a field day..
Containing Rodgers' scrambles is a must for the Pitt Dee. they of course have to come up big in this game for me to win my bet..Which is why they call it gambling.
Pittsburgh is 9-1 in the playoffs since 2005 -- lets make that 10-1 on Sunday..
I am playing Pittsburgh on the ML at +125 and I got some +130 also for my max amount these days.
I will add my max today is a lot less than it was in the 1980s but who cares..
I know many of you could do the same thing with the Packers and list a bunch of reasons why they will win.
I wish you all the best of luck and let the best team win...
I hope you all have a great time on Sunday and stay safe driving if you are on the road going or coming from SB parties...
Thanks, wil...:toast:
