Yea, I think it was Continentals....I know to finance the war they hyperinflated like crazy so where it's value fell to 1/1000th of what it was supposed to be worth. That might be it.

This was what was the real currency, legal tender to well into the 1850's. The Spanish piece of eight was the most common real money of the day.

The first Large Cent appeared in 1793. The front of the coin featured a head of Miss Liberty, her hair flowing behind her head in free, unfettered locks. The word "LIBERTY" appears above her head; the date "1793" below. The reverse consisted of a continuous chain of 15 links, representing the 15 American States in existence at that time. The denomination, shown by the words "ONE CENT" and by the numerical fraction "1/100", appear within the chain. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" surround the chain.
Instead of responding with enthusiasm over the striking of the first truly American coin, contemporary newspapers poked fun at the new designs.
This design was short-lived and was replaced late in the year by the 1793 "Wreath" Cent.
Designer: attributed to Henry Voight
Diameter: ±27 millimeters
Metal content:
Copper - 100%
Weight: ±208 grains (±13.5 grams)
Edge: Vine and vertical bars, alternating

Mintmarks: None (all examples of this type were struck at the Philadelphia Mint)

Back then if you had say a horse to sell, you would likely get paid for it in silver ( maybe gold) of some foreign issue ( likely Spanish) you would not take a piece of paper for it. An ounce of silver ( or so) was easily a days pay. Early coinage from the US mint was not able to be produced in sufficient quantities for commerce needs. A whole lot of stuff ( based on metal value) was used, from many countries, and was used to 1857 if I remember correctly.

Metal content was extremely important. Bonus whores of the day melted many early US coins as metals prices dictated.

Just wondering cant a new player get 3000 of a 2000 deposit right now at Mill? 2000 is way too much even if you have no rollover to go.

Has anyone inquired if they are taking deposits just to see what they say?

I was refering to the Gold from the Rush that was stamped with weight and the company that mined it and sometimes even a monetary value. I always thought that was cool. In my old coin books theres a whole section on them.

I know what you're speaking of, but not well versed in that area. There would be a weight and fineness ( assay). I don't know how you could stamp a monetary value on it. Value would fluctuate with gold price and how well accepted the mark is.

Sorry this thread got so jacked, but it ain't bad. Any interest for the Mill seller isn't hurt by a hot thread. More see it.

Good point. One question I have is of the $3100 how much was your inital deposit. I don't think anyone has anything to worry about when it comes to the deposits. The problem is with the winnings, courts might not order BOS to refund winnings
