I was in 3rd grade and we were going out for recess after lunch and the janitor stopped our teacher and was talking to her and she started crying. After recess, she told us what happened and we said a prayer. Tragic day. 9/11 is the only event in my lifetime that compares to it as far as how it affected the country.

Off the top of my head I'd have to say either.
-Iran hostages being freed and arriving home
-Always hearing about the Guerrilla wars in El Salvador.
But the one that actually happened and actually paying attention to was the Shuttle Challenger blowing up and my whole school going into a standstill.

Tried to keep thinking back to come up with something on the word stage, but I think this is it.
1983. Was 8. Was oblivious to what what going on in the world. But I for sure remember MJ coming onto the scene like he did.
Probably was the Billy Jean live show he did that I remember before the video though...
I remember a lot of talk about "the Russians are comin",bomb shelters,etc..in 6th grade (64)I remember blacks started comin to our school,and at the time it was really weird. had never been around a non white person before.lol..yes I live in the sticks..what I recall vividly about kennedy is l.h.oswald getting killed on live tv,and john john saluting his dads casket..still brings a tear to my eye...
that's funny, and I can imagine a young boy doing just that
