JP, I know, it's hard to believe, but I take no pleasure from the whole scenerio. Would have prefered things to have been handled well. I don't look at this as a political situation, just one of humanity.

Actually JP, I am pissed of the whole thing has been reduced to politics. The majority of the blame in that lies with the Dems.

When will Gov Blanco resign? She was the one who stopped the food and water going to dome.

This is a first! Bush actually fired one of his long line of bumbling jackasses!

That's quite a feat to be fired from the most corrupt and incompetent administration in American History. Way to go, Brownie!

You need to read better. Brown may need to be fired by he is not fired.

Earlier, Brown confirmed the switch. Asked if he was being made a scapegoat for a federal relief effort that has drawn widespread and sharp criticism, Brown told The Associated Press after a long pause: "By the press, yes. By the president, no."

Interesting take on it by Brown.

Brown/FEMA was blamed for not getting food & water to the dome but we now know it was Blanco who ordered her state Homeland Security director to do so. As bad as it may seem she blocked the food and water it may have been the right decision.

Brown should have been allowed to stay at his position, but only if FEMA is changed to Failure to Effectively Manage Anything

Knowing Bush, Brownie gets a medal next or promotion. (See Tenet, Rice, Rumsfeld et al).

Presenting the Medal of Freedom to Robert S. McNamara

Thomas Jefferson said: "When a man assumes a public trust, he should consider himself as public property."

The man we honor here today has lived that philosophy for more than 7 long years.

The General Services Administration does not list him among our official assets, but he is one of America's most valuable public properties.

Bob McNamara may not have accomplished the impossible. But he has achieved the unlikely: managing and directing the huge complexity that is the Defense Establishment of the United States of America.

doc, like Sam said...re-read the story. He was not canned at all. He is still FEMA Director. He is just not going to remain on the ground in NOLA to handle day-to-day stuff from here on out. The concept is that there still needs to be someone at the head of FEMA to respond to other crises. I gotta think this would be the case whether or not he bungled the effort. So in essence, this isn't a demotion, punishment or firing at all, just the natural flow of work. Delegation, if you will. But he has NOT been fired or demoted, not yet anyway.
