I really don't think the franchise owners usually become millionaires, I've seen a lot of Subway locations fail and go out of business, they have to pay corporate headquarters a lot in royalties.

When I looked into a Subway franchise a few years ago, they had made more millionaires than any other franchise

to be fair compairing a whopper to a tuna sub is a joke. lol

for one subway tuna never claimed to be healthy.. its made with the real mayo (pre mixed before ordering) and nowhere near the 6grams of fat or less 6" sub menu.. eat off that (even a footlong and add light mayo) and u will eat 1/3 of the fat and cals of a whopper or any other fast food joint including quiznos subs which are a calorie haven as well.

Just saying.. the person who decided to get a tuna sub made the dumb mistake and then blogged about it :ohno:

15 cents? come on man, the bread costs them more than that lol

with all the stuff i put on it (pickles, jalapenos, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc) it would probably cost me $3 to buy the ingredients and make it myself. so it probably costs them $1.50 not including labor

I used to work closely with subway owners at a previous job and they told me it cost about .15 to make it.. Bread cost next to nothing, they make it there.. veggies cost nothing, cheese cost nothing..

Do you know a large pizza @ dominos costs .25 to make?

They should feed the entire world of starving and homeless then... sounds like they have lower cost of goods than some disaster relief like red cross! :ohno:

However, your nowhere near counting in the brick and mortar restaurant/employees/etc.. ALL THAT should go into cost.... not just the ingredients

Guarantee everything factored in a sub costs 10X+ what you are quoting and confusing people with by saying $0.15 is the total cost.

just saying..include all the figures bud.. subs dont make themselves/dont sell themselves/storage/insuarance/franchise costs/etc etc etc

each store has to buy their ingredients, the cheese alone is well over 15 cents on a Subway sandwich.

I'm talking about what is on the sandwich not the rent, electricity, employee salary etc... I don't give a shit if you believe me or not really. It cost .15 to make the sandwich over there everything is cheap as shit and bought in extreme bulk.

Cheese more than .15? clueless.

A couple of corner slices of american bought in extreme bulk probably cost .3 cents.. You and murphy are clueless in this category.
Bread probably cost .4 cents, friggin veggies are maybe .4 cents. meat is probably .5-7 cents. I'm highballing it too.

I'd listen to an owner of subway over you two in a heartbeat.

These stores don't get high volume discounts. A Subway station might make 200-300 sandwiches in a day, or even less.

$1.50 or so for ingredients is more like it.

To make the footlong turkey sub, the ingredients cost $1.65 at a New York location. Mack Bridenbaker, a Subway spokesman, declined to discuss the economics of hosting the company’s $5 footlong promotion.
