Favorite private-eye/crime drama show ???

Happiness is surfing through the channels and coming across an episode of the Rockford Files. Havent seen that show in forever , too bad i missed the beginning though and didnt hear the answering machine.

if u like crime solving/sting operation stuff. u need to watch the wire (was on hbo for 4 seasons and was awesome)

If you want to watch a couple of witty private eye shows check out Veronica Mars and Terriers. Veronica Mars is available on DVD. Terriers only lasted one season on FX so it might be a little harder to find, maybe only on streaming video.

Tom Selleck as Paradise, Ma. Police Chief Jesse Stone, based on the character created by the late Robert R. Parker (also wrote the Spenser P.I. series of books among others). The Jesse Stone character is a troubled former LAPD detective, that starts a new career as a police chief in a small New England town. The stories are gritty and realistic, Selleck is excellent as Jesse Stone. There are nine books starring Jesse Stone and seven TV movies based on the character.

Robert Parker died suddenly of a heart attack on Jan 10th. 2010 at the age of 78. Some of the movies were not based on any of his novels but are excellent just the same.

In contrast to most television private eyes, Rockford wears low-budget "off the rack" clothing and does his best to avoid fights—although he will engage in fistfights when there's absolutely no other option. He rarely carries his Colt Detective Special revolver, for which he has no permit, preferring to talk his way out of trouble. He works on cold cases, missing persons investigations, and low-budget insurance scams, and repeatedly states that he does not handle "open cases" to avoid trouble with the police. (This self-imposed rule of Rockford's was relaxed in later seasons.) He has been a P.I. since 1968, and his usual fee is $200 per day plus expenses.
