Mr Charlie- Some very good work by Jerry and of course, Pigpen.
Estimate Prophet- 77 tour. Despite a dual sub outfit, I still can't do it justice. This is one of the tunes my entire family tells me to turn it down.
Crazy Fingers- Have a very nice 76 boot of this.

I got a good laugh at the 89 Alpine Valley You Tube Clip. I had a great time at that show.

As for being a nonhippie and going to the show. I once went to a show at the Rosemount Horizon( 89?) straight from student teaching. Khaki pants and a button down shirt. The group around me looked at me with concern until they noticed I was writing down the set list. Promptly passed me a huge fatty. Great Mountains on the moon.

Not any one particular song as their music was not earth shaking just great mood music.

Living in the Bay Area from 76-2000 I sure as hell miss going to their shows.

It was never an event as for the most part you could buy a ticket at the door and was always general admission.

My last Dead show was a Sunday night and couple few days later a friend called and said he won tickets and if I wanted to go.

Asked the wife(our first born was only months old)and she said you just went Sunday night and I responded something and she said fucking shit go then.

I told my buddy I can't go.

The big guy died that summer.

Obviously its hard to pick a favorite, as it changes all the time, but I'd probably go w/ the old standby, Terrapin Station

The most over-rated band ever.

That is just the thing about the Dead they were never rated only had one top ten(Hell In A Bucket)it was more like a cult following.

They did not care if mainstream America liked them or not.

You could record their shows, video tape them hell they even had a section for the bootleggers to record.

And they are all millionaires.
