Not saying it did, but obviously it's possible.

Iran says they have proof and taking it to the UN.

I think we will wait on those results and if there's any doubt we'll take action.

It's next to impossible.

There are many smart people on this board and certainly there are some, including myself, that can have an intellectual discussion about our policies towards Iran.

What are the U.S. policies towards Iran Ken?

You didn’t even know Iran was currently under sanctions dude

What Kenny said is accurate.

Sanctions were lifted under Obama and reinstated under Trump.

Iran is a terrorist nation and is responsible for most of the instability in the Middle East. Fuck Iran.

In 2010, the United States passed the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act. It revoked, for example, permission to import "certain foodstuffs and carpets of Iranian origin," the U.S. Treasury says. Those who violated the law could face a fine of up to $1 million and 20 years imprisonment.

In 2011, the United States added further sanctions, including tightening restrictions on companies that provide Iran with equipment and expertise to run its oil and chemical industry. It prohibited groups that do business with financial institutions in Iran from holding accounts in the United States.

Maybe your'e right.

But it is a machine.

I don't know I guess we'll see.

Obviously we need to be 100% certain before retaliating.

Of course but remember, this is a drone. The GPS system on it feeds data real time to the user and control center. They know where it's at 100% of the time.

[h=3]Trump says he thinks someone in Iran ‘made a mistake’ shooting down U.S. drone[/h]While talking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump said he thinks someone under the command of Iran “made a mistake” by shooting down a U.S. drone.

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Thursday said he doesn’t believe Iran meant to shoot down a U.S. drone and that it was probably “a mistake.”
“It was a general or somebody who made a mistake in shooting that drone down,” President Trump said from the Oval Office, appearing alongside Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Obama lifted sanctions, Trump reinstated them. When did I ever say there were none now? My degree is in political science and I have extensively studied international governments and I have a minor in history. I studied in Israel for two months in 1982 and was in Israel again last summer. I probably spend an hour a day reading international publications studying what is going on the middle east and the world. However, there are many other smart people that can intelligently discuss this issue. The US cannot capitulate under this situation. The Islamists in Iran will only negotiate when they are brought to their knees. The sanctions never should have been weakened. Money never should have been given back to them.

I retired from teaching last year and I taught Comparative Politics with Iran as a country I spent time extensively teaching. My take on this is Iran is doing a "Wag the Dog" themselves. Their economy is in shambles with the Rial 42.105 to the U.S. Dollar and 47, 593 to the Euro. The President usually takes the brunt of blame but the new generation that was not born during the Iranian Revolution is blaming the regime that holds the true power which is the Supreme Leader and Guardian Council. The median age is 30 and this new younger generation wants a better lifestyle and a global market for their products and loves Western Culture. The "generation gap" between the middle class who are reformists clash with this aging conservative republic. Protest are increasing monthly and people are questioning the government that relies on a weakening global oil market for their main source of revenue. Anyway, nationalism is the one way this government can distract from their economic issues and shooting non manned objects not resulting in any deaths is working right now for them.

That being said it would not surprise me if this drone shot down last night was in Iranian airspace spying on Iran. The U.S. has done this for decades going back to the Francis Powers incident over Russia. Iran is never this open with their statements and they are wanting a UN meeting which tells me they are not hiding facts. That being said who cares, we should continue to spy on them with our satellite technology and human intelligence in the country as some day we will eventually have to deal with them in a way no one wants to. The question is will it be Israel first? Sorry so long winded.

Need to think at a different level...

Attack Iran? Missile attack? Our jets vs their jets? Come in with troops on the ground, tanks, everything? WOW we should do well, kick ass, superior technology!

But: the threat is, they send in men across our vulnerable borders with small nuclear weapons, a few dozen. Hell, they might already have them here with our inadequate approach to guarding our country against terrorism. There are mosques popping up in every city, look around, they are there, who pays for them? SO if a madman gives the order after we attack Iran (when there is very little left to lose), this is the real threat. Or germ warfare, or whatever. They will do it. We are vulnerable. We let them in. It is politically correct to let them in.

The most we will do is a surgical strike to a small air base or something symbolic like our lil strike vs Syria.

You have been watching 'The News' too much man...Recall Iraq and the 100% certainty our gov stated on possessing Nuclear Weapons? Never saw any of those and killed thousands. Beginning of Same story here...Trump treats them like dogs. 'They aren't Behaving' he stated...If we would leave them alone maybe the middle east could establish their own gov & some stability. Iraq in absolute Shambles & now controlled by Terrorist groups. We are being bullies...And if you think Trump will do ONE thing for the greater good you are mistaken. If something in it for him, He's all in.

'Mosques popping up in every state'?? You do realize that the Muslim religion and Radical Terrorism are two different things right? Roughly 7-8% of Muslims are considered to be 'Radicalized'. It is absurd how we associate the Muslim Religion w/ Violence. 9 out of every 10 Muslims in this Country are proud to be Americans. This coming from a research study. It's scary how ill informed we are as a nation & we are actually buying into it more and more.

One can't just acquire small nuclear weapons. If it were that easy, terrorists would have used them years ago.

Geez, 9 out of 10?? That doesn’t fill me with optimism. Maybe if you said 999 out of a 1000, or maybe even 99 out of 100.

It should be more like 99.99 % in this country should be proud to be Americans.

You are being delusional and have not a clue with thinking like this with how the Iranian Mullahs think and act if you actually believe this would happen...

Totally clueless and Unicorn/rainbow thinking... If you were making decisions the middle east would be in flames by now just like Obama almost had it.

The middle east is run by simpletons to say the least. It is still the same as has been for hundreds, thousands of years. It will not change!!

Do yourself a favor and do some actual research with facts about the middle east
