The problem is with the program's mindset. The program is alright going 7-4, 8-3, the expecation level isn't set high like it should be. The main reason why he ran all the time was because he had two stud tailbacks(Maroney, Barber on the Cowboys) and an inept QB. I agree though Mason has no idea what he's doing out here. This year will suck to with no Maroney and Russell at the local JUCO.

Maroney & Barber were studs, but I didn't think Cupito was that bad. Part of the problem was that the D always knew when they were throwing the ball because of Mason's gameplanning. And besides, I don't care if you've got Reggie Bush, Barry Sanders, Emmit Smith, or whoever at RB, you will very rarely (if at all) pick up 3rd and 9 on the ground, especially when the D knows you are running it!! But, that's Glenn Mason for 'ya...

And when's Monson going to get his pink slip?

The main benefits I see to taking this break are 1. i suck lately, im not going to dance around, i've made shit picks and need to re-evaluate. 2. the sport i do good in and like more, the nba, is in prime time and want to take advantage of that and enjoy it.

RFB,
lay off the guy, i haven't seen you say anything on this site unrelated to dr03. easy to kick a guy while he's down...don't get what business you have here.

DR03, you shouldn't have stated you were taking a 5 week hiatus...saying you're taking a break is one thing, but putting a time table on things changes people's expectations. Now you could look like an ass if you cap a game between now and June. You may want to retract/revise your statement...

Kruser, My only issue with what he says is above. He def. doesn't have to play as many games as he's been playing, as baseball is long as hell. Shit, that's actually not a bad strategy, waitin for chop's plays to run out, then knowing exactly what you have to do to win. Kinda like college football overtime, playing D first so u know what you gotta do to tie/win.

2 picks a day......from june or thereafter....you'll have plenty of time to get the 150 picks in...that's for sure...so you'll be done in septemeber.....or quite possibly much sooner using the units behind theory....

Cupito was alright, a mid to lower tier QB in the big 10. I agree with your snyopsis of Mason's lack of gameplanning as well. I hope Monson is out soon, the big buzz around here was that we might have had a shot at Majerus(coached at Utah) but that went away quickly. Season ticket sales are going down, he isn't getting the recruiting done. We have top notch basketball facilities, are arena is one of the oldest and historical venues. In a metropolitan area, should be able to pick up better guys out of high school then all of these transfers.

If you like hockey though, Minnesota is like the Duke of Basketball. Basically a minor league for the NHL.

Thats my problem with this. He is being a flat out coward. Yes we all need breaks in baseball, but to take 5 weeks? He KNOWS DAM well Chop will be done with his plays by then thus giving him a HUGE advantage. He may be able to change his ENTIRE capping style to win the contest if he knows exactly how much he needs. Its just not fair in my opinion. The point of the contest was to post our picks on a relatively daily basis. Yes a few days off here and there, but FIVE WEEKS off is just being a coward.

This comes from the same guy who a little under an hour ago was bragging on AIM that the contest is over, regardless when I come back. If you know I'm going to lose, then there's no poiint thinking I can win the contest by taking time off since you already said it was certain I would lose.

You are damn right, you are stalling. You know you are beat and you are trying to get out of it.

You have made that clear by threatning me that you are going to end this contest 3 days ago when you were down 17 units.

Now you simply found a loophole in which you can gain a huge advantage and hold out as long as possible.

5 weeks? Come on man, thats pathetic. You wouldn't know what to do with 5 weeks of information man. You are simply stalling, PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Oh, and DAMN right I know I am going to win this. I wouldn't have put $500 on it if I didn't.

Yea I'm stalling, *rolls eyes*. I told you NBA playoffs start and I wanted to focus on that, relax, and at the same time put together a formula so I could win a damn game.

Kruser, I usually like how you handle yourself around here but step away from the computer for a while. You're acting like the world is going to stop until you get this $500 dollars. RELAX!! While he is losing is he still suppossed to rush out and force up 7-8 plays a day so he can hurry and get to 150 picks? The truth is if I was Dr and running like he was I would be taking a break as well, what's wrong with that? Where's Chop? Don't tell me he's on a break for running bad himself? Of course he is, wise fellow that he is. I know his probably won't be as long but nothing at all wrong with taking a time out when running bad. Hell I am running pretty good in bases but I may take a break myself to focus more on the NBA/NHL playoffs the next month, sounds reasonable to me. Without a time line in place he is perfectly within his rights to finish up his 150 picks at any point of the season.

Just my two cents, carry on.

The reason why I stated a June return was because that is when the NBA will conclude it's season and I want to put my full attention towards the NBA and let MLB play out. I am tired of getting beat night after night. NBA is my moneymaker right now, not MLB.

BTW Kruser, the first issue he was dead wrong on. While I don't think he was trying to cheat it sounds like he is so inexperienced he doesn't realize why you can't bet games the night before and then just arbritrarily cancel them the next morning. I think that was wrong but I seriously doubt he was trying to cheat you.

You are in the catbird seat, even if he is just stalling there is no sense allowing him to aggravate you like this. Money in October is just as good as money in May. Anyway sorry to butt in, it just seems like you have been near frantic around here ever since you guys made this bet. Good luck to both of you.

Very true. Its not like he can get out of paying, the money is with a 3rd party.

You are right and I appreciate you .02. However, a "break" is fine, but it kind of takes the fun out of the contest when he takes a break for 5 entire weeks doesn't it? Not to mention giving him an unfair advantage.

You make good points though. Was just hoping to actually have this a "head to head" capping contest rather then Choptalk going first and DR03 going 2nd. Chop will have 150 by the end of May most likely.

Like I said it makes perfect sense to me man. Even if running good a lot of cappers will pull back a little bit this time of year if they are good at NBA/NHL. Hell Chop is even taking a few days off, why would breaks be against the spirit of the rules if you are running bad? Anyway I am out of this, I like Kruser but want to see his game face return.

Thank you Kruser for the mature response! Good luck to you guys. For now let's keep making money following Chop, Jman, Fish and the others while the break is on, LOL.
