If head to head matters, then PSU should be in over OSU right?

Also, that Iowa loss is a BAD loss late in the season for UM. Shit, if UM gets in might as well invite North Dakota State who actually beat Iowa at Iowa.

Nope. Michigan was ranked higher before this week started and since Michigan beat Penn State, badly, they will get the nod.

Penn State may be the 3rd best team in the nation but they are damned if they
get in and damned if the don't. If they don't make it it's the Rose Bowl and Southern Cal
probably the 2nd best team & if they do get in they will face Alabama.

This will be the rankings people. Its not hard to figure out.

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. Michigan or Penn State

There will be 2 Big 10 teams in the playoff and there should be as that was the best conference this year. Out of conference record will be the demise of Washington. Washington will be #5 and either Penn State or Michigan will be #6, whichever isn't #4.

It would be a mistake to include Washington over Penn State or Michigan. They were so lucky in there
last two games & were beaten to a pulp by So. Cal. River Craycraft was not available in the Washington State
game and he is crucial & essential for the state offense to move at full strength. The played Colorado whose
star QB Sefo Liufau a great runner was hurt early on and could not run the ball even though he tried to returned
he was ineffective in the 2nd half. Putting Washinton in would be like putting Hawaii in a decade ago or the ND
team that was embarrassed against Alabama a few years ago.

No way a Power 5 conference champion should be passed up for a spot by a 2 loss team who did not even win their conference.

I'll be honest if I had to put the 4 teams in, I would have Alabama, Clemson, Washington & Western Michigan (only team outside of Alabama who took care of their business which no other team can claim).

You conveniently ignore that Michigan was getting worked, at home, by Colorado before Liufau got hurt.

There is no way a team that lost 2 of their final 4 games gets into the playoffs.

The only team that will replace Washington is Penn St.

Michigan has zero chance. NONE.

Penn State deserves to get in. They won toughest conference and are playing tough at the right time of the year. Definitely in top 4 right now.

UW? No-one in PAC12 beat anyone ranked outside conference. Hard to say if they are one of 4. Huskies best win was against "Colorado" c/w Penn State [OSU] and they also beat the Badgers. Colorado didn't really have a best win of note.

USC looks better than UW.

Looks close between the 3 Big 10 schools but winning conference and win over number 2 OSU should clinch it for Penn. Either OSU or Michigan probably deserve the 4th spot to have a crack against Bama. That would be good for the ratings.

Side note: Penn State look way better without Hackenberg.

Penn st shouldn't even have a football team much less be in the playoffs. Program should have been given the death penalty for allowing and then covering up child rape. Fuck that school and anyone who supports them.

The other problem with this is if the committee picks UW and OSU over PSU is that it sends the message to teams to schedule weak non-conf games at home.

Does anyone here think that if PSU had UWs non-conf sched there would be zero discussion of PSU in a playoff? PSU would have been 17+ point favs vs all of UWs non-conf schedule opponents at home no would be 12-1 right now. Yet PSU played a P5 state rival on the road and lost by a FG. They also played and beat the AAC conference champion who will most likely be ranked at the end of the year.

If PSU played Rutgers, Idaho and Portland State at home, they would be 12-1, and OSU would have zero arguement. Zero. In addition, is there any guarantee that UW would have won at Pitt and vs Temple? No, so the committee essentially is sending the message to PSU and all other P5 schools to just schedule scrub games at home in your nonconf schedules. If PSU scheduled Portland State at home instead of Pitt on the road is there even a discussion of them making the playoffs? No.

Is that what fans want? Joke nonconf schedules? Look at Bama, they have not played true nonconf road game in over 5 years since they went to PSU in 2011. That should not happen.

The committee should be doing the opposite. Reward teams that win their conf title that way they can schedule good nonconf opponents and not be scared to lose. Yes, Bama is great but the SEC sucks this year and they play one good nonconf game a year, never on an opposing teams home field. If all they had to do was win the conf title then maybe their nonconf schedule would not be such a joke. Why is Bama playing FCS teams? I am willing to bet Bama and some other top teams would be willing to schedule better nonconf opponents if winning their conf meant an auto bid to the playoffs. That would mean better games for fans and a better idea of how good the P5 conferences are vs each other.

The committee's reasons they stressed 2 years ago when OSU jumped TCU were OSU was a true conference champion and were playing better down the stretch after that horrible loss at home to a crap Va Tech team. Penn St has both of them in their favor when being put up against OSU on top of beating them. Penn St also has 1 of the better OOC schedule(right now off the top of my head only Oklahoma has had a better one.) which brings up the point that if Oklahoma scheduled North Texas and Tx State instead of Houston and Ohio St, they would probably be #2 behind Bama or if Penn St played Lehigh instead of Pitt, they would be in the final 4. If they let Washington in while playing that kind of OOC while being 1 game better in record over Penn St and 1.5 games better than Oklahoma, they will open up a whole new can of worms.

Washington shouldn't get jumped by anyone. Ranked #4 and beat another top 10 team by 31. What more do you want? Sorry penn state backers but losing 2 games is just how it goes. Everyone always loves the big 10 and they have been a competitive conference this year but they are receiving too much love. If Washington is passed by penn state then the committee fucked up. 2 years ago the committee showed the importance of a conference championship, if anyone should get bumped it's Ohio state- whih won't happen. There is no love for the pac 12 at all.

PAC 12 is getting plenty of love, what isn't getting love is that bullshit OOC schedule Washington played and rightfully so, the committee pretty much came out and bashed Baylor for this a couple years ago when OSU did their hurdle into the final 4 and now are about to reward Washington for doing the same.

btw I'm a Temple guy and kind of despise Penn St but I also love college football and it's shitty to see a team rewarded for playing such a shitty OOC over a couple teams that played a pretty tough OOC

The debate can continue on forever but I think washington deserves to be in. Lost at home yes but to a solid opponent. Ohio state lost to va tech and still got in a few years ago. Last 2 weeks have outscored top 25 opponents 86-27. Playing good right now and a all around team. There would be more of an argument if Wisconsin won because the lsu win and the tough close losses on the road to mich and Osu could be difficult to count against them too much. But a 39 pt loss to Michigan added with another loss to pitt and it's too late for penn state to sneak in

It's pretty simple
Al
Ohio state
Clemson
Wa

as Far as tosu vs Penn st debate:
penn st has twice as many losses. Tosu has 3 wins against top 10 teams.(mi-@wi-@ok) only loss was 3pt @ a top 10 team.
penn st 2 top 10 wins none on rd. Only rd game against top 10 team they lost by 39 pts. It's not like penn st won last night 59-0 like tosu did 2 yrs ago in route to the title. If Wi had a defensive back that could bat a ball down psu loses by10 instead of hanging on by 7.

The if-game works both ways. If Michigan doesn't fumble away victory, bye bye Ohio St.

PSU with a 21 point comeback is an impressive data point. They deserve it over Ohio State. I do think that the committee takes Ohio State. They should be fourth as the only non-conference winner. Make them play the machine.

There is no love for the Pacific 12 because Colorado, who would get wiped out by any top 10 team, was in the conference championship. The Pacific 10 is garbage this year besides wash and usc

I don't understand the arguments in favor of Michigan at all.

I would put Penn State in. In the last 31 minutes of football last night, they outscored Wisconsin, a team Ohio State barely held on to beat, 31-3.

It was a complete ass kicking after that terrible coaching decision not to punt.
