I absolutely believe it does, b/c it does cause stress, regardless of how compartmentalized it can be. Looking at my father who gambled quite a bit and ended with a triple bypass, it had to be a partial cause at his young age. (he's doing well by the way 5 years later)

Seriously though, there is a good chance that gambling on a regular basis is killing all of us faster than we would be....

I would agree with you for sure. There is good stress that makes people perform better. Gambling is not a good stress. It's got to have an adverse effect on all of us.

I'm not quitting anytime soon, but at lest now I know its costing me a few years
so I better use the proceeds to have some fun.

Blue, I think that's the key... don't even check the scores 'til the moring.

I just can't do that. I watch as many of my games as I can.

Stickles-Don't even think for a second that you are any more of an action junkie than 99% of us!! If we can't watch it, we gotta hear it, if we can't hear it, we gotta watch the ESPN gamecast. The world is becoming hooked on real time info, and it's becoming more and more common to be able to get it on the web.

Back to the original question-damn right it does. I'd say that the NFL has taken at least 1 yr off my life span.

If we just didn't watch it...

I know watching NBA totals and having Under has to take its toll on me...every bucket hurts...

I can literally feel my face get tingly sometimes and a burning in my temple when it gets to crunchtime...the only time I ever feel stress...its got to be from betting

OHHHHH-that ain't no shit!!

It's always blown my mind how a basketball game with a 250 point total can come down to the LAST SHOT so #)$ $()@ mother @#()*U$@ times.

I finally threw in the towel on that BS.

Yeah.....just like 1 beer a day.

Having your left nut on the MNF last chance bailout game is like having an Everclear IV stuck in the side of your neck.

The way I handicap is all feel and watching, no crunching numbers and grinding along. I look at al line and play it due to watching them perform, so the not watching simply would not work for me. Yes, I do think the life will be reduced as a result. There has to be some subconsious stress even if no longer felt.

Back in my days of dealing dice in the midwest, the AVERAGE age at some of dice tables was about 80 years old, I'd say NO.

I heard something similar to what Dante did.

They said winning a bet was good for your heart. They said the second you feel that win and theres that rush of a good feeling and the excitement or whatever, they said that is very good for your cardiovascular it gives it a nice jump. something amoung those lines. I'm sure if you used google for a while, you could come up with something.

however losing when you feel demoralized will probably do something opposite.

so what happens overall? everything finds the middle, just like in gambling ;)

I think the Rx needs a health room forum. Never seen so many questions about this type stuff as in the last few weeks.

Everything can or has the potential to lower life expectancy. So I think someone must belooking for a reason to quit, by asking such.

Breathing...can lower life expectancy for that matter. I think for the most part (51%) (everything in moderation)....genetics plays the biggest role in one's life expectancy.

absolutly it does. Sometimes I ask myself why even go through the stress and aggrivation. I guess I like to inflict self abuse on myself now and then.
