Do you think PGA golfers bet each other during tournaments?

That was my thought immediately, where Phil vs. Spieth matchup is concerned. Phil, Seasoned Gambler, vs. 21 year old with (already) History weighing on his shoulders....it'd be mighty tempting to add the pressure of $100K per hole lol. Think Viejo is right though...wager under these conditions too much risk opponent crashes & burns then slips up to media that "other pressures" contributed...way too much risk of a shitstorm.

Practice rounds it's rampant (and not even close to 100k for that matter, maybe a couple grand at the most), during the tournament there's no chance. Especially in the final group. Not to mention, the difference between 1st and 2nd yesterday was over 700k. They don't need 100k on it.

I enjoy the fact a lot of you think you know exactly what is going on in the PGA tour and it is so obvious to you that you think it is stupid for making such a thread.

I do agree that $100k is pretty excessive....and likely not a valid amount even if Phil had a practice round with Michael Jordan.

However, you guys are smoking crack if you think the prize pool of $700k between 1st and 2nd means anything to Phil. I told my wife yesterday that I believe Phil would trade in 2nd place money for last place money if he could win the Masters for a 4th time. That is a lot of money but a seasoned pro with the sponsors he has, the $ is a distant 2nd to the major championship. Especially a gambler like he is.

With that said, and the fact I think Phil is a really clever dude, you have to be crazy to not even consider that he might try to gain all sorts of edges vs a 21 year old kid that has never won a major before.


GoSooners - yes, I have heard of Phil being a stiff....but I also hear he is a hardcore gambler. I doubt he has stiffed anyone on golf wagers...esp other pros.

Don't want to argue..... cause I don't want to hear...... Little Dick dumbass who is 620th ranked golfer in the world.... had a bet in the pro-am at the Arkansas Open. Nobody that is a credible pro...... playing in the Masters...... is playing for additional bets during the round.

Just because Tiger was dumb enough to jeopardize his career whore-dogging around....... does not mean guys would be gambling on the course during the Masters. Too much to lose for a "real" pro.
