He should really pad his stats the next 2 years. Surely this has to be the last year Nadal wins the French. All of the 20ish generation are mentally weak so he could go on a 5 grand slam win streak.

And then tennis dies for awhile.

Ben Shelton is US best tennis hope. They all have the talent but he plays big the bigger the point. Thats the difference in top 10 vs 96 in the world and like all Americans, has a huge serve

US tennis sucks.

All they produce are a bunch of serve bots that have a hard ceiling.

I forget what major it was last year. But Taylor Fritz was in dominant form and comes up against an already injured Nadal who during the match aggravates the injury and by the 5th set can barely move...

Frtiz still finds away to lose to him in the 5th set tie breaker. Then Fritz just slumps through the rest of the season.

Serve Bots and nothing more...

Never predicted a #1 ranking or anything... Tennis will never be a US dominant sport... In fact, it is a sport in the US considered a nerd sport

Would be nice if the US could produce even 1 player who could win even 1 major.

Roddick is about the same age as me and that was a hell of along time ago.

US always likes to talk down sports that aren't winning.

Didn't seem like a nerd sport when Sampras and Agassi were dominating...

Zit you're a good guy but too much of a homer. I know you're a Nadal fan but Joker is going to have double the weeks at number 1, and if it weren't for covid he's easily number 1 for 500 weeks!! May still get there.
Lol... I thought my response was very reasonable. He and Nadal are tied for the number of majors, and Djoker looks easily positioned to win a bunch more, and Nadal not so much. So, again, I'm not ready to crown Djoker the GOAT yet, but it certainly looks like he'll end up there. Seems like a reasonable take on the situation to me?

Top 3 ever I would have to go

1) Novak
2) Federer
3) Nadal

Towards the end of Federer's career he started finally getting Nadal in tournaments that weren't clay. Won i believe 5 of their last 6 encounters with the 1 loss of course being dominated at Roland Garros.

Gotta give Nadal a ton of credit in taking Federer out in the Wimbledon final. Federer never came close to beating Nadal at Garros.

Federer did win the end of season ATP top 8 tournament 6 times to Nadal's 0.

Novak though is simply the best. Took Nadal out at Roland Garros and best Federer at Wimbledon. Probably also the greatest hard Court player ever. Probably the greatest player ever on any surface that isn't clay.

He will end his career at around 30 majors. Way more than either...

Federer was with out question the mentally weakest of the 3.(not that he was mentally weak--just compared to those 2)

Novak and Nadal are just dogs that never stop.

I would say roger had the most skill of the big 3 but the other 2 had all the other things over him .

It was truly the golden era of tennis .
And now it’s almost over .

Even though Joker has nearly 200 more weeks at number 1 than Nadal?! 6 ATP final championships to 0 (fifth slam)! I don't think you can compare Nadal to Joker. Remember harder to be number 1 only 28 ever (really 26, last two made it because Joker banned) than to win a slam 55 since rankings came into effect. Yeah Rios made it to 1, but he did win 7 tourneys that year. Agassi was just coming back so he just had to contend with Sampras. On the flip side it took Wilander 7 slams to reach number 1, 3 in the same year, for a measly 20 weeks! Becker with 6 slams and only 12 weeks at number 1.

Don't get me wrong, I like Djoker. I especially like that he gave the establishment a big FU when it came to them trying to get him to take the vax. He could have easily got a doctor to affirm that he had gotten the vax, and won another slam, but he had character, backbone and honesty, and didn't bow to the vax idiots.

The argument for Djoker as GOAT is strong. I'll continue to root for Nadal to surpass him once it's all said and done, but it doesn't look probable.

Remember growing up, once a player hit like 26 years old, career was over. Now guys are playing in their late 30's and winning majors.

It is/was the golden age of ternnis. I liked watching all 3.
