gotta take the huge money here pinero has been steadily improving after a few rough outings...

And the sox somehow keep losing players and adding minor leaguers to the mix.

gonna pull the trigger on 3 games tonight

Mets -1.5 +207
Mets +127
Anaheim -1.5 +305
Anaheim +143
Baltimore -1.5 +241
Baltimore +165

Taking the Mets because of Glavine despite it being on the road vs a good pitcher. Philly hasnt been getting many runs and I think now is a good time to test them vs glavine who has been doing quite well so far overall.

Anaheim looks good as well... The sox may shell washburn and end this one early but I'm taking a shot here with the big plus money hoping that boston is burnt out since this is the day after their first game of this west coast trip. Plus if I was pedro I'd be struggling with motivation problems after that BS he and his agent pulled saying they would test the market. In one way it would be great for him to show his best stuff so he can get a great contract... on the other hand he probably wouldnt mind if the team went down the tubes that way he could say he wanted to be with a winner. Either way he has put himself in an aweful position - and with the way he has looked this year (only slightly above average IMO) all the pressure is on him to fail. Just hoping tonight is the night (also I gotta get these sox fade ops in before nomar gets back next week and starts to heat up...)

The baltimore choice is simply against contreras - since his return he hasnt dont too bad however he allowed 8 hits and 3 runs in his last outing (where they won 18-5). Worth a shot IMO to bet that he will give up a rough one tonight.

Westbrook hasnt been great but burnetts first start was nothing spectacular either - home dog price seems worth the risk.

Despite the fact that hendrickson looks like Lurch and his ERA is scarier than rubbing up against fester in a dark room - I think if schmidts streak of all these wins in a row is going to end then it will be on the road in a situation like this where they "should" win the game...

And as far as SD I am fading the sox here for a few reasons - Arroyo for 1 who has been aweful since his reappointment to the rotation - and who will very possibly be reduced to long relief as a result of a rough outing today - has given up 5 or more runs in his last 3 outings... Wakefield will follow - and he isnt much better having given up an average of over 3.5 runs in his last 7 outings. Nomar is another reason - if he does get in the lineup I don't expect him to do much and even if he's not in the lineup then its times like these where guys (notably reese, you killus and bellhorn) will be looking over their shoulder hoping they arent the one to get seated on the pine once nomar does come back in.

Jun 9 The Red Sox have announced that Garciaparra will be activated from the disabled list before Wednesday's game at Fenway Park. Garciaparra, who hasn't played in a major league game all year, will play shortstop and bat fifth against the visiting Padres.

Also andy dominique will get the start at first... Millar in right, youkillus at 3b, ortiz the DH, and bellhorn at 2b with pokey kapler mccarty on the pine

also they recalled my good buddy mark malaska - oh yeah...

nice going jay

i like your theory of playing both sides of a dog, flipping them over as a fav plus money.

1 run games seem to happen about 27% of the time. so it stands to reason if you have the right team , chances are they will win by 2 or more.

RED SOX-ROCKIES PREVIEW

Associated Press
Jun. 15, 2004 6:34 a.m.
GAME: Boston Red Sox (37-25) at Colorado Rockies (21-41).

TIME: Tuesday, 9:05 p.m. EDT.

Bronson Arroyo has lost his last three starts. Coors Field probably isn't the best place for him to try to break his slump.

Arroyo and the Boston Red Sox make their first-ever trip to the Colorado Rockies' hitter-friendly park in the opener of a three-game interleague series.

Arroyo allowed just two runs, one earned, and six hits in five innings of last Wednesday's 8-1 loss to the San Diego Padres. He rebounded nicely from his previous two starts, in which he combined to allow 15 runs - 11 earned - in nine innings. However, Arroyo still walked away with his losing streak intact.

The right-hander has allowed 22 runs in 20 innings in his last four outings.

Coors Field might not be the best place to reverse that trend. The stadium allows two more runs per game than any other park, and batters are hitting .311 there - the only major league ball park over .300.

Boston's Pokey Reese spent the first seven seasons of his career in the National League and has plenty of experience at Coors Field. The light-hitting infielder has gone .344 (21-for-61) with two homers and six RBIs at the park.

However, Reese said he won't do anything differently at the plate in Colorado.

"Why would you change your approach? I mean, if the ball's going to go out, it's going to go out," he said. "I'm just thinking about what I'm thinking about when I'm not there - just squaring to the ball and hitting it hard somewhere."

The Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 Sunday for their sixth win in eight games. Reese doubled in two runs and Gabe Kapler doubled in the eventual game-winner for Boston.

The Rockies lost 3-2 to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Sunday, extending their season-high losing streak to eight games.

"We've just got to play one good game," manager Clint Hurdle said. "Play one complete, good game and then try to turn it into another complete, good game and see where it takes us. Build some momentum."

Aaron Miles doubled twice and had an RBI, and Denny Hocking drove in the other run for Colorado, which finished its road trip 0-6. Miles finished 2-for-5 for his ninth multihit game in 12 contests for the Rockies, who have lost 20 of their 24 games.

STANDINGS: Red Sox - 2nd place, 3 GB, AL East. Rockies - 5th place, 12 GB, NL West.

RED SOX PROBABLE STARTER: Arroyo (2-4, 5.01 ERA). Arroyo is 0-1 with a 7.88 ERA in three career appearances, including one start, against the Rockies.

ROCKIES PROBABLE STARTER: Joe Kennedy (4-4, 4.06 ERA). Kennedy allowed season-highs of seven runs and nine hits in six innings of Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the New York Yankees - his fourth consecutive defeat since a four-decision winning streak. The lefty is 0-2 with a 5.30 ERA in eight career appearances, including six starts, against the Red Sox.

OFFENSIVE LEADERS: Red Sox - Manny Ramirez, .342 avg. and 17 HRs; David Ortiz, 54 RBIs; Mark Bellhorn, 44 runs; Johnny Damon, 6 SBs. Rockies - Todd Helton, .345 avg.; Jeromy Burnitz, 16 HRs; Vinny Castilla, 48 RBIs; Royce Clayton, 45 runs; Miles and Clayton, 4 SBs.

INTERLEAGUE RECORDS: Red Sox, 4-2; Rockies, 0-6.

STREAKS AND NOTES: Red Sox - 1B-OF Kevin Millar, who spent parts of five seasons with the Florida Marlins, is 11-for-29 (.379) with two homers and seven RBIs at Coors Field. ... RHP Keith Foulke earned his 13th save in 15 chances Sunday. ... RHP Curt Schilling is scheduled to undergo a third MRI on his sore right ankle Thursday, one day after his expected start at Colorado. Rockies - 1B Helton has 10 hits and eight RBIs in 17 at-bats over the past four games. ... RF Burnitz singled in the second Sunday, snapping an 0-for-11 slide. ... The Rockies are 4-10 in one-run games and 7-18 in two-run games.

ROAD/HOME RECORDS: Red Sox - 15-14 on the road; Rockies - 13-16 at home.

Jun 6 Joe Kennedy had to leave Friday's start after three innings after being unable to get his left (throwing) shoulder loose. Kennedy said he is not sure if he will be able to make his next scheduled start on Wednesday. "I normally throw 45, 50 pitches to warm up before a game and (Friday) I threw 85, 90," Kennedy told the Rocky Mountain News. "I couldn't get loose. I thought maybe when I got into the game I would loosen up, but it didn't. I didn't hurt at all. I felt fine. I just couldn't get loose. I couldn't get my fastball past 83 (mph)."

83 I think the Sox can hit an 83 mph fastball. Interesting? Who you leaning towards in this one? Could be like a Broncos Patriots game. Think Arroya will give up a few dingers.
