I always thought that you were an assshole but now I understand . My program always figured that the most Drunk Driver is the Designated Driver. Who could complain then if you died and were a passenger in any car? Of course, if you were driving another car, you may have a beef. Good Luck to All!

It's a facade. Drunk driving is allowed to exist for population control. It makes zero sense to place the responsibility to get behind the wheel while drinking solely in the hands of the person who has been drinking and at that point in time incapable of making an important decision. Of course the drunk the person is going to be convinced they are cool to drive it is because they are drunk and their judgements are impaired.

The way I see it is most DUI's occur from drinking in a place of business or at a party. Nobody who is getting shit faced at home is trying to get behind the wheel of their car. So why not require bars and shit to set up a security where you must turn in your keys and in order to get your keys back you must pass a sobriety test in the bar and if you fail then go in the back and sleep it off or they will call you a cab. As for party throwers they need to make the penalty for allowing someone shitfaced to get behind the wheel such a punishable crime so they will be more responsible for the people they allow to drink in their home or place of event.

People ruin everything. The whole thing about marijuana being legal in Colorado and Washington will be temporary. Just wait till people ruin it by being irresponsible assholes. People should drink as much alcohol as they want but don't be an asshole who drives back home.

This is very easy to solve.

People are going to drink and drive.

So pass a law that if you drive under 25MPH you can be as drunk as you want. If you drive over 30MPH drunk you get 25 years minimum. Problem solved. Almost no one dies at 20 MPH.

The way the laws are now, you are encouraged to drive on a highway cause you are a lot more likely to get pulled over for running a stop sign or making an illegal turn by not being on a highway. Every drunk driver I know thinks the highway is safer. The law should change this. DUI prison stays should go up immensely based on driving speed.

I think Costa Rica is right. Everyone who ISN'T drunk, should be tested and thrown in jail.

I understand but they need to treat it more seriously. If the drunk driver only killed themselves it would be fine but most of the time they take out an innocent victim. You're acting like the behavior is right because most people do it.
My point is that it doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, it exists, and it's not, I repeat not, going to change. No matter what you, me, the police, or anyone else thinks.

Bad deal for everybody involved.......the passenger chose to ride with the drunk driver. I hate the law that charges a drunk driver with intoxication manslaughter for a "willing to ride" passenger. If they are going to charge people with that, then they might as well charge dwi suspects with passengers with attempted intoxication manslaughter.

And for whoever thinks cars need interlocks on them or whatever, do you not enjoy your rights or living in a free country?

Brown is dead and Brent didn't get a scratch. The drunk driver always survives whereby the innocent one dies

I dont know what world you live in, but tonight I'll be headed out to the bar, it will be full, the parking lot will be full, most people will be lit up, and they are all going to drive home, me too. That's just the way it is. You do realize that late at night(on weekends), something like half the drivers on the road have been drinking, dont you? Think about it, the whole city is filled with thousands upon thousands of slightly, to more than slightly trashed people. It's the norm, at least where I live(mn).

So just stop with the shock and horror at the thought that people drink and drive.

you're exaggerating.

Its still better than the rest......the less big brother is looking over our shoulder or knowing where are car is, the better off we are.......look, it sucks the guy died but he made the choice to ride in the car after he knew the driver had been drinking.
