They got that Canadian kid and UCLAs Garret Cole in the minors, their top draftpicks from 2010 and 2011, esp. Cole was rated really high. Will be interesting to see how both of them pan out

Only injuries will prevent the Tigers from running away with the American league pennant.

nyy will be fine, very deep everywhere
Deep? Offense is rather deep unless they get hit hard by injuries. Bullpen has at least a really good frontend, though I'm not exactly sold on their depth behind Mo, Robertson and Soriano. But their starting pitching is really thin: Hughes has been injury-prone and after being quite dominant for 1/2 year never came close to that performance. Pettitte has been out of action for ages and not sure how good he'll be, Garcia fared better than his deeper numbers would indicate (aka due for a recession), Pineda broke down in the 2nd half of last season and also had better numbers thanks to a rather weak division and pitching 1/2 his games @Safeco and showed diminished velocity, Kuroda will regress in the AL East and Yankee Stadium, too, and Nova has to prove that he can keep pitching at that level.
Actually besides CC I'm not really sold on any SP on their roster, especially once they have to play a best of 7 series and CC can only go twice (or on short rest)...

That being said, I still would put them into contention in the AL East next to Tampa (Tampa far better SPs + defense, but inferior offense and also weaker bullpen, at least if you look at their 7th to 9th inning guys). Either way should be an interesting season

Pretty much sums it up.

Hughes is a vastly overrated head case, with crappy work ethics, who, if you take away 3 1/2 months, has given new meaning to the word underachieved in a seven year career.
CC has been mediocre since his near perfect game.
Pettitte is old, Kuroda I'm afraid will be to NYY as Lackey is to Boston, Pineda is overweight, and Garcia is a #4 starter and will never be anything more than a #4 starter.
Bull pen is fine, left side of the infield is ancient, Swisher is OK, Gardner is a punch and Judy slap hitter with speed...............

Last time the Yankees started 0-3??? 2008. Yes, the same 2008 WS winning team that is considered among one of the best teams ever (notice, I didn't say THE BEST team ever, IMO that goes to either the 1927 Yanks or the Big Red Machine of the 70's).

It makes little difference how they just started. I bet them under because I think they are not worth 94 1/2 wins ! They're old, slow , and their pitching is very questionable.

Who gonna beat 'em? Maybe TB..maybe not.

Still think that the organization that ruined baseball makes the playoffs.

You mean the organization that saved baseball when Steinbrenner bought them from CBS in 1973.
Baseball was barely treading water before that.

It is going to be fun to fun to see the teams that spend like crazy struggle this year.

Phils, Red Sox, and Yanks.

Angels might be another team with a big payroll that struggles.
