BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) OG Anunoby scored 16 points, James Blackmon Jr. had 14 and Robert Johnson added 11 Wednesday night, leading No. 13 Indiana past No. 3 North Carolina 76-67 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

The Hoosiers (5-1) have won two straight since last week's stunning loss to little-known IPFW.

In that game, Johnson struggled, Blackmon injured his knee and Anunoby tried to play through an illness. This time, they helped Indiana start fast and fend off the Tar Heels' second-half charges to close it out. Anunoby was injured at the end of the game and needed help to get to the locker room.

North Carolina (7-1), which trailed for a total of 16 seconds during its four-game trip to Hawaii, never led and spent most of the game trailing by double digits.

The Tar Heels were led by Justin Jackson with 21 points and Kennedy Meeks with 10. North Carolina was 13 of 22 on free throws.

---

No. 7 VIRGINIA 63, OHIO ST. 61

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - London Perrantes scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half for Virginia in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Devon Hall added 12 points for the Cavaliers (7-0), who trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half and didn't take the lead for good until Marial Shayok's baseline runner made it 59-57 with 1:58 remaining.

The Buckeyes (6-1) trailed 63-61 when Shayok missed two free throws with 10.5 seconds left. Coach Thad Matta called a timeout with 6.5 seconds to play, but JaQuan Lyle couldn't find an open teammate as the clock ran down and launched a 3-point try that missed badly.

Jae'Sean Tate led Ohio State with 14 points and Lyle had 12.

---

No. 9 BAYLOR 79, SAM HOUSTON ST. 45

WACO, Texas (AP) - Reserve King McClure scored 14 points and Baylor remained unbeaten.

Baylor shot 46.4 percent from the field, including 13 for 31 from 3-point range. On the other end, Sam Houston State missed its first 13 shots while Baylor opened the game on a 10-0 run. The Bears (7-0) limited the Bearkats to 28.6 percent shooting and blocked 11 shots.

Al Freeman had 13 points for the Bears, and Ishmail Wainright added 12. Their big frontline players, Jo Lual-Acuil and Johnathan Motley, dominated the boards with 14 rebounds apiece.

Sam Houston State (4-3) came in averaging 81.7 points per game, but never got into a rhythm. Aurimas Majauskas led the Bearkats with 13 points.

---

No. 11 UCLA 98, UC-RIVERSIDE 56

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Isaac Hamilton scored 27 points, tying his career-high with seven 3-pointers, and UCLA improved to 8-0, the Bruins' best start since coach Steve Alford's first season in Westwood three years ago.

Freshman T.J. Leaf added 18 points and 10 rebounds, Aaron Holiday had 18 points and Thomas Welsh had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Lonzo Ball, the nation's assist leader, set a freshman game assist record with 13 for the Bruins, who were coming off winning the title at last week's Wooden Legacy. They hit nine of their 13 3-point attempts in the second half.

Secean Johnson scored 17 points despite foul trouble and Chance Murray added 13 points for the Highlanders (1-4). Freshman Dikymbe Martin was held to five points after scoring 15 against Utah last week.

---

No. 12 SAINT MARY'S 66, STANFORD 51

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Calvin Hermanson scored a career-high 25 points and knocked down a career-best seven 3-pointers for undefeated Saint Mary's.

Jock Landale had 13 points and eight rebounds while playing in foul trouble for the sharp-passing Gaels (6-0).

Grant Verhoeven scored 12 points and Robert Cartwright added 10 for Stanford (6-2), under first-year coach Jerod Haase, is off to its best start in five seasons. The Cardinal began 10-1 in 2011-12.

Hermanson hit five of his 3s in the second half. After Stanford pulled within 48-45 on two free throws by Cartwright, Hermanson and Kyle Clark hit consecutive 3-pointers and Saint Mary's took off with a 16-3 run.

---

No. 14 LOUISVILLE 71, No. 15 PURDUE 64

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Ray Spalding and Mangok Mathiang each scored11 points and Donovan Mitchell contributed seven critical points down the stretch to help Louisville in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Seeking a rebound from their second-half collapse against Baylor in the Battle 4 Atlantis championship when they lost a 22-point lead, the Cardinals held Purdue to a season-low 36 percent shooting but needed key baskets in the final minutes as the Boilermakers cut a 51-33 deficit to four with 14.4 seconds left.

Ryan McMahon's 3-pointer with 4 minutes remaining helped along with Mathiang's layup with 2:30 left, but Mitchell's late scoring including a 3 helped the Cardinals (6-1) escape with their first win over Purdue since 1996.

Caleb Swanigan had 14 points and 11 rebounds and P.J. Thompson had 13 points, but the Boilermakers (5-2) had their four-game winning streak stopped along with a conference-record seven-game winning streak in the Challenge.

---

No. 16 ARIZONA 85, TEXAS SOUTHERN 63

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Lauri Markkanen scored 19 points and hit five 3-pointers, helping Arizona bounce back from its first loss of the season.

Arizona (6-1) had no letdown after losing to Butler last week, jumping on the Tigers (4-3) from the opening tip. The Wildcats built a 13-point lead in the opening 5 minutes and were up 19 by halftime, cruising to the 37th straight non-conference win at McKale Center.

Kobi Simmons had 15 points and Kadeem Allen finished with 14 points and seven assists for Arizona. Markkanen had six rebounds and five assists.

The only bad news for the Wildcats was that starting point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright did not return after appearing to injure his right leg midway through the first half.

Zach Lofton led Texas Southern with 19 points and Jalan McCloud added 14.

---

No. 23 OREGON 93, W. OREGON 54

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Preseason All-America Dillon Brooks scored 21 points and Roman Sorkin had 15 for Oregon.

Chris Boucher added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Ducks (6-2), who won their fourth straight game and 29th in a row at home. Tyler Dorsey had 12 points.

Oregon made nine of its first 12 shots to go up by 14 points early and toyed with the Division II Wolves (4-4) the rest of the first half, shooting 16 of 26 to carry a 48-20 lead into the break.

The Ducks scored the first seven points of the second half to cap an 18-0 run and pushed their lead to a high of 51 with 5 minutes to play.

Oregon had a 52-27 edge in rebounds. Jordan Bell led with 12 and Kavell Bigby-Williams had 10.

Brian Berg led Western Oregon with 17 points and had five 3-pointers.

Thursday’s six-pack

Submitted for your perusal: Week 13 NFL trends…….

— Cowboys covered nine of their last ten games.

— Arizona covered three of its last twelve games.

— Jaguars are 5-12 vs spread in their last 17 games.

— 49ers are 5-11 in last 16 games as a road underdog.

— Eagles are 0-5 vs spread in their last five road games.

— Washington is 12-3 vs spread in its last 15 games.

Thursday’s List of 13: Our bottom 3, top 10 in NFL

32) Browns— On their bye this week; get RGIII back from injury next week against the Bengals.

31) 49ers- Oregon job is open; Chip Kelly says he isn’t interested.

30) Jaguars— Supposedly playing Ravens in London next year. Baltimore is one of eight NFL teams that hasn’t played an international game.

10) Lions— Have trailed all 11 games in 4th quarter, meaning this 7-4 team could realistically be 0-11. Weird that they’ll play only three outdoor games in regular season.

9) Redskins— Play three of next four games on the road; their last road win was October 9.

8) Chiefs— Last four games were all decided by 5 or less points.

7) Falcons— Over is 9-2 in their games this year; fun team to watch.

6) Dolphins— Won last six games (5-1 vs spread); they’re +10 in turnovers in those games.

5) Giants— Won their last six games. Under is 6-2 in their last eight games.

4) Seahawks— 7-1 this season when they score 12+ points; they’ve been held to 3-5-6 points by three teams who probably won’t make the playoffs.

3) Raiders— David Carr dislocated pinky on his throwing hand LW; played 4th quarter with glove on his hand. Will he wear the glove this week?

2) Patriots— Won six of their last seven games- they’re a 13-point favorite this week.

1) Cowboys— Won ten games in row (9-1 vs spread); good ballgame Thursday in Minnesota.

Preview: Bearcats (5-1) at Cyclones (5-1)
Date: December 01, 2016 9:00 PM EDT

When Cincinnati visits No. 19 Iowa State on Thursday night, it will be Round 2 in the matchup of former Murray State coaches who used the perennial Ohio Valley Conference power as a stepping stone to bigger things.

The Bearcats' Mick Cronin, who was 69-24 from 2003-06 with the Racers, matches wits with the Cyclones' Steve Prohm, who parlayed a 104-29 mark from 2011-15 at the small western Kentucky university into a Big 12 gig.

Both teams bring 5-1 records into the game with losses to Top 25 teams. Cincinnati's occurred at Rhode Island's hands, while Iowa State's happened Sunday against No. 8 Gonzaga 73-71 in the AdvoCare Invitational championship game in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Trailing 49-34 at the half, the Cyclones stormed back behind an outstanding defensive effort that limited the Bulldogs to 29 percent shooting in the second half.

"The biggest thing we did in the second half was we competed at a whole different level," Prohm said. "I'm sure that Gonzaga missed some open shots, but we contested and competed. We have to do that every possession and every game."

Iowa State also got a monster game from 6-5 senior guard Deonte Burton, whose 29 points and 12 rebounds against the huge Bulldogs might have been the best game of his career. Burton also tossed in 21 points during a 73-56 semifinal win over Miami, marking the first time in his career he'd scored 20 points in consecutive games.

But the Cyclones' main man remains senior point guard Monte Morris, a preseason All-America pick who is leading the team in scoring at 16 points per game and is connecting on 52.6 percent of his shots. Morris is also averaging 5.6 assists for every turnover.

Iowa State, which averages 88.8 points, should have to work for its points against the Bearcats, who appear to be a typical Cronin team that defends fiercely. Cincinnati is yielding only 59.2 points per game and limiting opponents to 38.1 percent field goal shooting, putting it on track to rank in the top 20 nationally in both categories for a fourth straight season.

Cronin was pleased with his team's offense Saturday in a 91-68 thumping of Lipscomb. Four players reached double figures for the Bearcats, which canned 52.5 percent of their field goal attempts and drew 20 assists on 31 field goals.

Five players registered multiple assists, with point guard Troy Caupain and reserve Tre Scott notching five apiece.

"In the second half, our motion offense was the best it's been all year," Cronin said. "I think a lot of that has to do with Tre Scott's willingness to be a soldier for our team and get other people open. The more it worked, the more it became contagious with guys trying to move the ball and get each other open."

Sophomore swingman Jacob Evans leads Cincinnati's offense at 17.8 points, while 6-9 junior forward Kyle Washington is averaging 16.3 points and 9.3 rebounds. The 6-4 Caupain needs three points to become the school's 50th 1,000-point scorer.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) Josh Perkins and Silas Melson had 15 points apiece as No. 8 Gonzaga remained undefeated and kept Mississippi Valley State winless with a 97-63 victory Thursday night.

All of Perkins' points came on five first-half 3s.

Nigel Williams-Goss chipped in 13 points, five assists and three steals for the Bulldogs (7-0).

The Delta Devils (0-9) had an energetic start, but the Bulldogs' nine 3s built a 21-point halftime lead.

Two 3-pointers by Williams-Goss and six points from Jordan Mathews helped the Bulldogs go up five just 4 minutes into the first half.

Freshman center Zach Collins had two early dunks, both of which he flushed while being fouled.

Rashaan Surles led the Delta Devils with 13 points.

CINCINNATI 55, No. 19 IOWA ST. 54, OT

AMES, Iowa (AP) - Jacob Evans III made two free throws with 20 seconds left in overtime and Cincinnati sent Iowa State to its second straight loss.

Kyle Washington had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Evans had 11 points for the Bearcats (6-1), who also snapped Iowa State's 37-game non-conference home winning streak.

Cincinnati outrebounded the smaller Cyclones 46-34. It shot just 3 of 21 from 3-point range and 35.5 percent overall, but its defense stifled Iowa State (5-2) down the stretch.

Gary Clark and Kevin Johnson also scored 11 points each for the Bearcats.

Monte Morris had 15 points for the Cyclones and Matt Thomas scored 13. Iowa State's Naz Mitrou-Long, who has hit a number of game-winning 3s in his career, had one rim out at the regulation buzzer. He did not score.

The Cyclones have their last two by a total of three points after a 5-0 start.

---

No. 20 SOUTH CAROLINA 68, VERMONT 50

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - PJ Dozier had a career-high 21 points and South Carolina improved to 7-0 for a second straight season.

Dozier, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, helped the Gamecocks to a 13-1 run at the start of the second half. Maik Kotsar had eight points in the charge while Dozier had a 3-pointer and a thunderous finish to an alley-oop pass that had the crowd on its feet as South Carolina took a 49-32 lead.

The Catamounts (6-3) could not respond to taller, quicker South Carolina.

Dozier had three of the Gamecocks' four 3-pointers in besting his previous high of 17 points, set in the season opener against Louisiana Tech.

Kotsar had 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting, mostly from close to the basket, while Chris Silva added 12 points for South Carolina.

Anthony Lamb had 14 points for Vermont.

---

No. 24 FLORIDA 91, NORTH FLORIDA 60

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Chris Chiozza had 16 points and nine assists, and Justin Leon added 13 points for Florida.

It was the Gators' first game as a ranked team during coach Mike White's two seasons in Gainesville.

Dallas Moore tried to wreck it. North Florida's all-time leading scorer finished with 31 points on 12-of-21 shooting. He kept the Ospreys (3-6) in the game early, but couldn't keep pace with Florida's inside-out attack.

The Gators pounded the ball inside (38 points in the paint), scored 38 points off turnovers and made 9 of 19 shots from 3-point range. It looked a lot like the last time these teams played. Florida hit 16 3s and beat North Florida 97-68 in the first round of the NIT in March.
