DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Luke Kennard scored 24 points and No. 5 Duke beat Tennessee State 65-55 on Monday night.


Freshman forward Jayson Tatum added 14 points and Grayson Allen finished with 12 for the Blue Devils (11-1), who plodded through 30 mostly sluggish minutes before pulling away from a pesky Tigers team that threatened to spoil the college debut of touted Duke freshman Harry Giles.


Tennessee State led 36-34 with 15 minutes left. Duke countered with a 25-3 run highlighted by five 3-pointers - including two by Kennard on consecutive possessions after he was left completely unguarded - to take a 59-39 lead.


Darreon Reddick and Tahjere McCall scored 14 points apiece for the Tigers (8-3).


Amile Jefferson had a career-best 18 rebounds for Duke, which finally got Giles back from injury. One of the nation's top recruits, he had no points and no rebounds in 4 first-half minutes.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Caleb Swanigan had 21 points and 21 rebounds, Isaac Haas scored 18 and Purdue beat Western Illinois.


Swanigan went 7 for 16 from the field and 6 for 7 at the free throw line in his ninth double-double of the season. He had 26 points and 10 rebounds in Saturday's 86-81 victory against No. 25 Notre Dame in the Crossroads Classic.


Purdue (10-2) also got 16 points from Vince Edwards in its fifth consecutive victory.


Mike Miklusak, an Indiana native who attended high school 85 miles from the Purdue campus, led Western Illinois (3-8) with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Western Illinois shot 31 percent from the field.


No. 16 INDIANA 103, DELAWARE STATE 56


BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - OG Anunoby had 19 points and nine rebounds, and three of his teammates also reached double figures as Indiana routed Delaware State.


By avoiding a second straight loss, the Hoosiers (9-2) extended their home winning streak to 25 games - tied for the fifth-longest in school history.


DeVaughn Mallory led Delaware State with 14 points. The Hornets (3-10) have lost five of six.


Delaware State trailed throughout in its first trip to Assembly Hall.


Anunoby was 9 of 11 from the field and had four blocks. James Blackmon Jr. finished with 18 points, Robert Johnson had 16 and Thomas Bryant added 14 points and six rebounds for Indiana, which shot 66.7 percent from the field.


No. 21 FLORIDA STATE 76, SAMFORD 68


TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Terrence Mann scored 19 points and Xavier Rathan-Mayes added 15 to lead Florida State past Samford.


The Seminoles (12-1) have won eight straight and are 12-1 for only the third time - matching the 1988-89 and 2008-09 squads.


FSU scored the first six points to start the second half, pushing the lead to double figures. Florida State led by 17 with 6:12 remaining after a 12-2 run.


Christen Cunningham led the Bulldogs (7-4) with 16 points.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Chimezie Metu scored 17 points and Jordan McLaughlin had 16 points and nine assists to help Southern California stay unbeaten with a victory over Cornell.


After getting off to a slow start, the Trojans (11-0) overcame an early 10-point deficit. They took the lead late in the first half and never trailed after halftime.


Southern California had a commanding height advantage and outrebounded Cornell 43-28.


Playing its seventh road game of the season, Cornell (2-7) still gave USC a tougher time than expected. Stone Gettings scored 22 points for the Big Red, and Hatter had 20.


No. 25 NOTRE DAME 77, COLGATE 62


SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - V.J. Beachem scored 20 points to help Notre Dame snap a two-game skid with a win over Colgate.


Bonzie Colson finished with 13 points and seven rebounds, and Matt Farrell added 13 points and six assists for the Fighting Irish (10-2).


Will Ryman had 18 points for Colgate (2-10), which lost its sixth in a row - all in December.


In back-to-back losses to No. 1 Villanova and No. 15 Purdue, the Irish led by double digits in the first half of each game, but were outscored by an average of 16 points in the second half.

13) Green Bay-Chicago game was played in frigid conditions at Soldier Field Sunday; turns out Bears’ QB Matt Barkley played with a wetsuit on underneath his uniform. He said the wetsuit did not hinder his play at all


Barkley is from California, played college ball at USC; he threw for 362 yards Sunday. He may have started a trend for cold-weather quarterbacks.


12) You read a lot about crummy things athletes do; the media loves negative publicity. Well, last week, Colts’ punter Pat McAfee paid the utility bills of 113 people in Indianapolis who were about to get their power turned off. He did same thing for 80 or 90 people last year.


Thats a good thing an athlete did; too bad it didn’t get more play in the media.


11) Clippers’ star Blake Griffin is having minor knee surgery, will be out for several weeks. He missed an average of 31 games a year the last two years, figures to miss another good chunk of games now.


10) There is a ranch in Texas that is the only place in America where it is legal to go and pay money so you can drive and fire guns from an actual tank like the ones in the Army. Not sure why anyone would do this, but you can if you want.


9) Aroldis Chapman criticized how he was used in the World Series; good grief. Cubs won their first World Series since 1908, don’t be criticizing the manager, no matter what- they won, and that is all that matters. Chapman is really rich and has a World Series ring; be positive.


8) Indian Hills CC in Ottumwa, IA has seven D-I transfers on its team, that is seven kids who washed out of D-I basketball programs, for whatever reason. This must be a great team to coach; you’ve got talented kids who you know are on their last shot at a college scholarship— they’re not going to give the coach trouble unless they’re biggest screw-ups on earth.


Ottumwa, Iowa by the way, was Radar O’Reilly’s hometown in the great TV show M*A*S*H*


7) The Texas state championship high school football game drew 35,059 fans to AT&T Stadium; thats 35,059 fans going to a HIGH SCHOOL game.


6) San Antonio Spurs retired Tim Duncan’s number 21 Sunday night; good for him. Great player and from all you read, a great teammate. Congrats.


5) In the last 17 Presidential elections, dating back to 1948, only nine times did an elector not vote for the candidate he/she was supposed to. This year, 37 electors would’ve had to abandon Donald Trump for the outcome of the election to be changed. It didn’t happen.


4) Former Minnesota Gophers coach Jerry Kill will be the new OC at Rutgers; Kill had to quit at Minnesota for health reasons; he was having seizures related to his epilepsy. Kill has since lost 25 pounds while working as an administrator at Kansas State, says he is healthier now. We wish him well.


3) Northeastern 81, Michigan State 73— Spartans are 7-5, they’re a young team whose most talented player is still hurt and they’re probably not going to make the NCAA tournament. One of the Interweb posts Monday said that today, Michigan State would be a #4 seed……in the NIT.


2) NFL has to simplify the catch rule; they’ve made themselves look stupid by making it too complex. You have the ball and two feet on the ground; thats a catch. Simple as that; none of this “going to the ground” nonsense that makes you roll your eyes.


1— This week’s kerfuffle is about Christian McCaffery/Leonard Fournette sitting out their bowl games to avoid injury, since they’re first-round prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft. When a player says “I’m skipping the bowl game to begin my preparation for the NFL Draft” it is a gutless way of saying, “I’m not risking injury to play in a game I couldn’t care less about.”


What about their teammates? Are they upset and if so, do they say anything? It is a free country obviously, but still you’re part of a team and you’re quitting on the team before the season is over.


Former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said on TV Monday: “There is no way 100% of his teammates support his (McCaffery’s) decision.”


I’m pretty much deferring on this to people who’ve played major college football; early returns are mixed. There is a lot of gray area here; it is an interesting debate.

Preview: Eagles (8-3) at Musketeers (9-2)
Date: December 20, 2016 6:30 PM EDT

CINCINNATI -- Eastern Washington coach Jim Hayford realizes the challenge before his team when the Eagles play at No. 17 Xavier on Tuesday night in front of a sellout crowd of more than 10,000 fans at Cintas Center.


"We are playing in a little deeper water than we are used to," Hayford said.


Especially since they are facing a Musketeers team that has not yet hit its stride, which could happen soon.


Xavier (9-2) committed 15 turnovers Saturday in a win over Wake Forest, resulting in 18 points for the Demon Deacons. Standout point guard Edmond Sumner had six of those giveaways, raising his team-leading total to 34.


Musketeers coach Chris Mack said Sumner is dealing with a hand issue that is only partly responsible. Sumner is playing with his pinky and ring fingers taped.


"He needs to handle the ball better," Mack said. "They all do. Turnovers haven't been a huge issue for this team. We just have to correct them."


There has been no issue with junior guard Trevon Bluiett who was named to the Big East Conference weekly honor roll for the second straight week after having a team-high 20 points and seven rebounds in the win over Wake Forest.


Xavier is hoping to get J.P. Macura hot again from the perimeter. He was 5 of 7 from 3-point range in a win over Utah, but that was sandwiched between four games in which the junior guard was just 3 of 20 from long range.


What has pleased Mack most recently is the development of big man RaShid Gaston, who held Wake Forest's John Collins to just 9-of-16 shooting on Saturday. Gaston is averaging nine rebounds and 13 points over his past three games.


"He took his opportunity and made the most of it," Mack said of Gaston. "It's really good to see. He's never been the best finisher around the basket. This is who we thought RaShid would be. He's done a really good job since we inserted him in the starting lineup."


Eastern Washington (8-3) had a seven-game winning streak snapped in a 70-48 loss at Northern Kentucky on Sunday. The Eagles were averaging 82 points per game before the defeat.


Sophomore guard Bogdan Bliznyuk, a Ukraine native, leads the Eagles with an average of 21.7 points per game. He shoots 37 percent from 3-point range.


Eastern Washington plays at Colorado, a team that beat Xavier, on Thursday. Hayford said he is looking forward to the challenges this week.


"What's fun is when you go and represent your school and teammates well," he said. "It's about whether we can use these opportunities to make us a better team. We are going to give these guys a game plan that if they execute it they could win. If we coach them with the belief they are going to play to the best of their ability and execute the game plan, we'll be satisfied with our performance. It's not always that easy."


The Tuesday game is the first meeting between the two schools. It will be the fifth sellout this season at Cintas Center and the 142nd since the building opened in 2000. Xavier has a 29-game home nonconference winning streak.

Preview: Bluejays (11-0) at Sun Devils (6-5)

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Creighton remained one of six undefeated NCAA Division I teams on Saturday, but just by the hair on Santa Claus' chinny-chin-chin.


Creighton needed a remarkable defensive effort to keep its unbeaten record intact in a 66-65 home victory over Oral Roberts, which did not score in the last 6:08 after taking a 65-60 lead on a banked 3-pointer by Albert Owens.


Neither team scored after guard Marcus Foster, Creighton's leading scorer, hit a short jumper from the lane with 3:28 remaining. Foster had 22 points and the Bluejays squandered all of a 13-point lead in the second half before recovering.


No. 9 Creighton (11-0), off to its best start in 13 seasons, will put that streak on the line at up-and-down Arizona State (6-5) on Tuesday.


"We scored on six of our last 29 possessions and won," Creighton coach Greg McDermott told reporters.


"I'm disappointed we weren't able to throw the knockout punch like we've done so often this year. Also pleased that we found a way with our backs against the wall. We had to get some stops. To their credit, they were able to do that."


Foster, who is averaging 18.2 points per game, and point guard Maurice Watson Jr. have been the driving forces in the Bluejays' fastest start since 2003-04, when a Dana Altman team started 12-0 before falling at Northern Iowa.


Watson Jr., a senior guard, is the triggerman for an offense that is averaging 89.3 points per game. He had 13 points and 10 assists for his fourth double-double of the season against Oral Roberts.


Watson Jr., a preseason All-Big East selection, leads NCAA Division I players with an average of 9.2 assists per game this season. He leads active players with 740 career assists and is fifth in career steals.


Arizona State continued its inconsistent ways with one of its poorer performances Saturday, an 81-70 home loss to preseason Western Athletic Conference favorite New Mexico State. After opening 2-0, the Sun Devils have alternated wins and losses in the last nine games.


Forward Obinna Oleka had 18 points and 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season against New Mexico State, but Arizona State shot only 41.3 percent from the floor, including 30.3 in the second half, and were closer than 10 points only once in the final 11 minutes.


"I knew it was going to be a hard game," said Hurley, who was ejected with 9:47 remaining after receiving his second technical foul during the Aggies' 13-2 run.


Arizona State played its first game without freshman starting small forward Sam Cunliffe, a Seattle native who left the program last week. He was averaging 9.5 points per game and had made 15 3-pointers in 10 games. He indicated personal reasons were a factor in his decision.


Reserve guard Torian Graham leads Arizona State with a 16.5 scoring average and guards Shannon Evans II (16.1) and Tra Holder (15.6) are next.


The Sun Devils are 0-2 against Top 25 teams, losing to then-No. 1 Kentucky 115-69 on Nov. 28 in the Bahamas and to No. 15 Purdue 97-64 on Nov. 6 in the Jimmy V Classic in New York City.

Preview: Lobos (7-4) at Wildcats (10-2)

Arizona and New Mexico are set to renew an old rivalry Tuesday night.


The programs have played 125 times in men's basketball, much of that as members of the Border Conference from 1931 to 1951 and of the Western Athletic Conference from 1962 to 1978.


But when the 18th-ranked Wildcats (10-2) and Lobos (7-4) meet in Tucson for a 9 p.m. ET tip, it will be the program's first clash since December 1999, after which then-Arizona coach Lute Olson had no interest in continuing the series.


"To renew it, it's not necessarily a favor to them. It's in our program's best interest to play them," Arizona coach Sean Miller said Monday.


"I'm sure New Mexico is really excited about the opportunity to play us. But, I'm telling you, we're really excited about the opportunity to play them, too. This isn't a one-way street. We're not the high-and-mighty and they're not the little guys trying to climb the hill."


Olson canceled the series after a 79-78 loss in Albuquerque on Jan. 16, 1999, when the Lobos went coast to coast with a dribble, a pass and a buzzer-beating basket in 4.6 seconds. Olson, with a history of questionable calls at The Pit, felt the scoreboard operator did not start the clock on time.


The programs were contracted for one more game and the Lobos upset the No. 3 Wildcats in December 1999 in McKale Center in Tucson. But, per Olson's wishes, that was it -- until the schools agreed in 2015 to this home-and-home series.


"We didn't schedule them to renew something that once was," Miller said. "We've scheduled them because it makes a lot of sense for our current team and program."


Arizona is still limping along with seven scholarship players, but the Wildcats are coming off a 67-63 win over Texas A&M in Houston on Saturday. They are led in scoring by a trio of freshmen -- 7-foot power forward Lauri Markkanen (16.3 points per game), wing Rawle Alkins (12.3) and guard Kobi Simmons (12.3).


Point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright, who has been out since Nov. 30 because of a high ankle sprain, has a chance to come back for the Wildcats' Pac-12 opener at Cal on Dec. 30, Miller said. The game against New Mexico is Arizona's final nonconference game.


The Lobos have a dangerous scoring combo in post Tim Williams (18.6 points per game, 63.8 percent shooting) and guard Elijah Brown (16.0 points per game). Brown was a unanimous selection to the All-Mountain West first team last season after transferring from Butler. He is the son of veteran NBA head coach Mike Brown.


Lobos sophomore Dane Kuiper, a 6-7 wing, has added to the scoring punch of late with 29 points in the past two games as he moved into the starting lineup.


"I think it's the team and Coach (Craig Neal) putting a lot of confidence in me and me coming out a lot more focused," Kuiper said in the Albuquerque Journal about his increased production. "A couple games before, I came out really tentative. I'm really starting to come into my own."


This will be the second Miller brother that Neal has faced this season. The Lobos lost 64-57 to Dayton and Miller's younger brother, Archie, last month in Anaheim, Calif.


"They may have had their ups and downs in nonconference play," Sean Miller said, "but every team hits their stride and, you know what, I'm sure this is a game that they would love to hit their stride in right before Christmas."

Preview: Bulldogs (8-3) at Ducks (10-2)

EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon junior Jordan Bell did a solid impersonation of Chris Boucher.


Bell had a career-high 16 points and a season-high 12 rebounds as Oregon defeated UNLV 83-63 on Saturday night without Boucher, the senior center who leads the Ducks with 14.1 points and 3.2 blocks per game to go with 7.8 rebounds.


"I thought Jordan really picked it up," Oregon coach Dana Altman said. "I am not sure if he has had that many rebounds in a while. He had a double-double, that is a really nice game. He helped pick us up."


The 20th-ranked Ducks (10-2) may need a repeat performance from Bell on Tuesday when they host Fresno State (8-3) at Matthew Knight Arena. The 6-foot-10 Boucher, who suffered a sprained ankle on Thursday, is not expected back until the start of conference play next week.


"I think I am getting into a groove now," Bell said. "Things are coming easier and I am keeping it simpler. Last year, I was figuring out what to do when I came into games, but this year my role is set and I focus on that. I am rebounding, defending and blocking shots."


Bell is also averaging a career-high 9.3 points per game.


"Every year I find a role on this team and what I need to do," Bell said. "This year, we don't have an inside post player so I am focusing on that."


The Ducks have won eight straight games after early-season losses to Baylor and Georgetown.


"Everyone has problems at first with new people coming to a team that is already set," Bell said. "Last year, we struggled and lost a couple games because it takes time to have everybody feel each other out and identify roles."


Oregon found its groove last season when it won the Pac-12 Conference title and reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.


"I think we can go further this year than last year," Bell said. "We are way deeper this year, we can play anyone on the bench and be fine."


Altman would like to see the Ducks improve on defense.


"You are not going to shoot well every night, so you have to guard somebody," he said. "If you can guard, you can stay in most games. We have some talented offensive teams with Fresno State, UCLA, and USC on the horizon so our defense has to keep coming,"


Fresno State has won three games in a row -- against Cal Poly, Holy Names and Pacific -- but will face a much tougher test against the Ducks. The Bulldogs are 1-0 against the Pac-12 after beating Oregon State 63-58.


Senior guard Paul Watson leads Fresno State with 13.5 points per game while junior guards Jaron Hopkins and Jahmel Taylor average 13.1 and 13.0 points, respectively.

Georgia Tech won four of last five games with Georgia; Dawgs lost last two visits here, by 8-7 points. Pepperdine lost its last five games; they’ve been off for nine days since 93-67 loss at USC. Creighton is 11-0 but was life-and-death to beat lowly Oral Roberts Saturday, outscoring ORU 6-0 over final 5:06 for 66-65 win. Arizona State is 6-5 vs schedule #125; they’re 1-4 vs top 100 teams, with only win at San Diego State. Sun Devils have #284 eFG% defense; their subs played total of only 30:00 in last game, a home loss to New Mexico State. Arizona is 11-2 vs schedule #131; Wildcats are #325 experience team- they’re thin, with subs playing #291 minutes. Arizona’s only two losses are to top 20 teams (Butler/Gonzaga)- they beat Texas A&M in Houston Saturday. New Mexico lost by 5-13 points in only true road games; they’re 1-4 vs teams in top 125, splitting pair with #111 New Mexico State. Williams scored 19 points in each of his two games since coming back from a concussion. Pac-12 home favorites are 25-25; Mountain West road underdogs are 15-7.

Oregon won its last eight games, but their best player Boucher missed Saturday’s 83-63 win over UNLV (check status). Ducks are having trouble getting whole team healthy/on the floor- they force turnovers 21% of time, block 23% of opponents shots and are 4-0 vs teams ranked outside top 100, with all four wins by 14+ points. Fresno State is 6-3 vs schedule #302; they’re 3-1 in true road games, with all three wins by 5 or less points or in OT. Pac-12 home favorites are 25-25; Mountain West road underdogs are 15-7.

Washington is #344 experience team that is talented but they can’t defend. Huskies lost four of last five games, with only win 92-86 over Western Michigan team that had just lost a player who was accused of murder. Washington allowed 90 pts/game in last five games. Cal Poly coach Callero won big at Seattle U, his last stop; his Mustangs are 5-6 vs schedule #127, playing pace #311. Cal Poly lost to Arizona State by 22, Cal by 16 in their other two Pac-12 games. Monmouth is 9-2 vs schedule #147; they won 82-79 at Memphis LW, one of program’s best wins ever. Hawks are #38 experience team playing pace #64- they force turnovers 21.1% of time. Princeton has injury issues; they’re 0-4 vs top 100 teams, with losses by 9-11-11-9 points. Tigers haven’t beaten a team ranked above #213. Monmouth starts three seniors, two sophs; they’ve won their last eight games, but except for Memphis, that was against stiffs. MAAC home favorites are 2-4 vs spread; Ivy League road underdogs are 11-11.

Cal-Riverside is 0-6 vs D-I teams, losing last game at home to Montana; Highlanders beat Northern Colorado 77-66 at home LY, after leading by 23 at the half. UCR has 2nd-worst eFG% in country, shooting 28% on arc, 36.2% inside arc and they start three seniors. Bears are 1-7 vs D-I teams; they’re #343 experience team, plus they’ve got new coach. Northern’s only D-I win was by 22 over #12 Sacred Heart. Big Sky home favorites are 3-10 vs spread; Big West road underdogs are 11-24. NCU starts three sophomores and a freshman.

Iowa is 6-5 vs schedule #169 with #340 experience team; they beat Iowa State by 14, Northern Iowa by 23 in last two games after a 4-5 start, so they’re getting better. Hawkeyes are playing #34 pace; their bench plays 6th-most minutes in country. North Dakota lost by 8 at UNI in its only top 100 game; Hawks are 5-4 vs schedule #95- three of their four losses are by 8 or less points. ND starts two seniors, two sophomores- they split with rival North Dakota State. Big 14 home favorites are 27-31 vs spread; Big Sky road underdogs are 27-28.

Portland beat Portland State last four years, by 21-16-12-6 points; Vikings lost 81-60/83-71 in last two visits here. Portland is 7-3 vs schedule #198- they’ve got new coach and #77 experience team. All three Portland losses are to top 60 teams. Portland State is 2-1 vs WCC teams, beating USF by 4, Pepperdine by 6- they lost by 18 at LMU. Vikings have #343 eFG% defense- teams are shooting 58.3% inside arc against them, which is really bad. WCC home favorites are 22-15 vs spread; Big Sky road underdogs are 27-28.

Champagne Super 'Nova


Villanova remains in the top spot of the rankings after humbling crosstown rival Temple 78-57 as 14 1/2-point favorites. The Wildcats have covered four of their past five games, and they're 4-0 ATS in their past four games as double-digit favorites. You can expect Villanova to be favored by more than 20 points when American U. pays a visit to campus next Saturday. The Eagles of American enter 2-7 with losses including Howard and New Hampshire. That game is going to be really ugly.


Rock, 'Chalk', Jayhawks


Kansas pulled away from pesky Davidson in a neutral-site game Saturday, winning 89-71 as 15-point favorites. It was their first cover in three tries, and just the third cover in the past seven outings. As the 'chalk', the Jayhawks haven't exactly rocked this season. However, Kansas does have 10 consecutive victories dating back to their opening overtime loss against Indiana in Honolulu. The 'over' is a perfect 4-0 in the past four games for Kansas after a 4-0 'under' run from Nov. 15-22. It also helps that their schedule has been much less challenging lately, allowing their offense to power up.

Sir Duke


The Blue Devils have been covering big numbers lately. Duke is a perfect 3-0 ATS over their past three games, including a 94-45 emasculation of UNLV on a neutral-site court this past Saturday. Duke has covered each of their past three outings when they're favored by 24 or more points, too. The upcoming week features games against Tennessee State and Elon University, so you can expect heavy lines for those two games, too, although TSU did take North Carolina State to overtime recently, and Elon has wins over Florida International, Illinois-Chicago, North Illinois and South Florida, so they're not a pushover. They also lost by three at Georgetown, so the Phoenix won't be intimidated for their neutral-site game in Greensboro.


Gonzaga Cover Kings


Gonzaga has been rolling lately, winning each of their past three games by an average of 18.3 points per game (PPG). The Bulldogs have covered four in a row, including wins at Tennessee and a 27-point win over cross-state rival Washington. The Bulldogs are hitting on all cylinders right now. The schedule becomes much less challenging after an early-season gauntlet, as they face South Dakota out of conference before kicking off West Coast Conference play with Pepperdine Dec. 29. The rest of their schedule includes just one ranked team, St. Mary's (Calif.), for two conference games Jan. 14 at home and Feb. 11 in Moraga.


Cards and Cats Time


Louisville has rattled off five consecutive victories since their 66-63 setback against unbeaten Baylor on a neutral-site court Nov. 25. The Cards have three straight covers, and they're 7-2 ATS in nine games overall heading into their showdown with Bluegrass State rival Kentucky Saturday night. The Cardinals are looking to avenge a 75-73 los at Kentucky last season. Louisville has dropped eight of the past nine meetings with Kentucky, including losses in the Sweet 16 and Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. Louisville also hasn't covered at home against Kentucky in the past six tries dating back to Dec. 28, 2002. The 'under' is 6-3 in the past nine in this series, and 14-5 in the past 19 meetings (13-4 in the past 17 regular season meetings).


Other Teams to Watch


After showing some signs of life early on, Fordham has dropped six games in a row and they're 0-5 ATS over their past five outings. Total bettors love the Rams, as the 'under' has cashed in six of the past seven games.


James Madison slipped to 1-9 with a loss at Appalachian State this past weekend, a third straight non-cover. The Dukes are just 1-7 ATS overall on the season.


Middle Tennessee fell 80-77 at Virginia Commonwealth over the weekend, but they covered for their sixth consecutive game, and eighth time in nine tries.


Northern Kentucky of the Horizon League has won five consecutive outings, and they're a perfect 6-0 ATS over their past six games.


Oregon State has been terrible this week, slipping to 3-9 SU with neutral-site losses to Long Beach State and Portland over the weekend. The Beavs have lost five straight, and they're 2-8 ATS over their past 10 outings.


Providence has their five-game cover streak snapped Dec. 10 against UMass, but the Friars are still 6-1 ATS over their past seven outings. The 'over' is 3-1-1 in their past five after the 'under' opened 6-0.


South Dakota has Gonzaga on the docket next. The Coyotes are 5-0-1 ATS in their past six games heading into that measuring stick game.


Temple opened the season a perfect 6-0 ATS in their first six outings, but have hit the skids lately with a 1-3 ATS mark over the past four. The 'under' is also 3-1 in their past four outings.


UC Santa Barbara continues to scuffle, including a 40-point beatdown at UCLA last Saturday. The Gauchos are 0-6 ATS, and they haven't beaten an FBS team so far this season.


Wyoming did big things on the gridiron this season, and their basketball team is following suit. The Cowboys have won five straight, and they have covered four in a row. The 'over' is also a perfect 4-0 in the past four outings.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Esa Ahmad scored 17 points and Jevon Carter recorded 15 points and five assists as No. 11 West Virginia dominated Radford 84-57 on Tuesday night.


Tarik Phillip added 13 points and five assists off the bench for the Mountaineers (10-1), who continued to force turnovers in droves -- 29 this time -- with their relentless 94-foot "Press Virginia" defense. West Virginia won its sixth straight game since a Nov. 25 loss to Temple in the NIT Season Tip-Off final.


The Highlanders (4-7) kept it respectable for the opening 10 minutes, trailing 23-18 after Justin Cousin banked in a 3-pointer. But from there, the Mountaineers closed the half on a 30-4 run, forcing 13 turnovers while yielding only 10 shots in the stretch.

CINCINNATI -- Edmond Sumner turned in his most complete performance of the season with 14 points, a career-high nine assists, and zero turnovers, and Trevon Bluiett added 16 points to lift the Musketeers over the Eagles.


Xavier (10-2) extended its non-conference home winning streak to 30. The Musketeers haven't lost a non-conference game at home since losing to Wofford in 2012.


Eastern Washington (8-4) led for more than 11 minutes and by as many as 11 points in the first half.


Jacob Wiley scored 16 points for the Eagles, who committed 15 turnovers leading to 21 Xavier points.

Lauri Markkanen and Rawle Alkins each scored 13 for the Wildcats (11-2). Kadeem Allen and Kobi Simmons had 11 apiece. Alkins, a freshman, pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.


New Mexico (7-5) was led by Elijah Brown, who scored 17 points. Tim Williams added 14 points for the Lobos, who shot 26.2 percent and were outrebounded 49-30.

MORAGA, Calif. -- Calvin Hermanson scored 18 of his 19 points in the first half to help the Gaels defeat the Islanders.


Saint Mary's (9-1) got 15 points and 13 rebounds from Jock Landale, and Joe Rahon had 14 points and six assists.


Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (7-3) outplayed and outhustled the Gaels for much of the second half, but a 45-27 rebounding advantage by Saint Mary's and the Islanders' 35.3 percent shooting doomed the visitors.


Rashawn Thomas scored 22 points for the Islanders, and Ehab Amin added 17.
