I am a die hard Carolina fan and I love this thread. Clemson v Georgia is a matchup made in heaven. I cannot wait to see this game. Georgia comes in replacing some very key defenseive players against one of the best offenses in the country. Could be ugly, but Georgia generally reloads with studs. The big questions is will the be up to speed in time to face the Tiger offense. My guess is they get worked early on in the game, but pick up on the schemes and start to create turnovers which Clemson is known to do.
The other side is the Georgia offense against the Clemson defense. I don't care about Venables and his defense, they will have a hard time containg the georgia offense. Murray is one of the best QB's in SEC history and can pick apart a secondary that has new faces as well. UGA also has a stout RB tandem in Gurly and Marshall. Clemson does have a decent front 4, but UGA returns a really good o-line, so it will be a tight battle. My guess is...first one to 50 wins.
Now...Clemson v South Carolina is another story. This write-up is based off of everyone for both teams being healthy come November. South Carolina has the won the last 4 in a row against Clemson (which they outscored Clemson 124-54), and they get them at Williams-Brice this year. USC is 26-3 at home since 2009 and that is a very strong number. USC has had Clemson's number ever since Tajh Boyd has had the reins and it shows. Since he first played against USC in 2009, he career numbers against USC are 33-71, 339 yds, 2 TD's, 3 INT's and a fumble. Yo do the math...not good. Sammy Watkins career numbers against USC...4 receptions for 39 yards and 0 TD's. Carolina has found a way to shut them down year after year since 2009 and it shows. I don't see thsi year being different. USC will likely be playing for a big time bowl spot at this point in the year, they will be very hungry for their last home game of the season.
I just don't think they can pull it off this year against what is very likely to be Spurrier's best team since he got to USC in 2005. I think they will be disappointed again in Novemeber and Tajh Boyd leaves Clemson without beating South Carolina.
And to top it off...Jadeveon Clwney said it best..."I don't know how it feels to lose to Clemson and I'm not gonna know either because we ain't losing to them while I'm here."
