Thanks for the very nice words guys.

Dont want to say anymore to avoid the risk of people thinking im trying to make excuses. It is what it is. Its all my fault for going against all my principles that I have learned all these years.

Im going to start betting at a level when I come back where I wont care about a DAMM BLOWN SAVE IN THE 9th inning. Where I dont have to sit at the damm computer all night long watching CBSSPORTSLINE watching every pitch of every game.

Im going to bet my value plays agian, and quit trying to hit the damm 5 run homer every night. Im cancelling all my goals for the season. I have no goals the rest of the year other than trying to bet the best card I can bet on a daily bases.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

Chop,
This past NFL season I upped my bet size from an average of $200 a play in years past to around $ 500 a play and got destroyed, lost almost ALL of my bankroll. Playing with scared money is just that, SCARY.

I never got hot or never won it back (during football) and lost all my confidence in everything I did with the NFL. All the years of learning and studying and than BAM it was like everything I did was wrong. I now beleive EVERYONE goes thru something like this in the one sport that they feel they have an edge on, sort of like the gambling gods are putting you in your place.

I actually called it a year, you have to do stuff like that when you are grinding your teeth at night sleeping and fighting with the lady for no reason.

I came back 2 months later and ended up putting to together a new plan, a well thought out safer plan and just took a deep breath and won back about 65% of my losses in the NBA and college hoops. Actually got my confidence back that gambling can be beat. If anything I listened to what EVERYONE told me and took the things I liked and added to my arsenal.I am still tweaking somethings. It just seems like it is WAY easier to lose big than it is to win big.

This fall I am going back and giving it another go, it is who I am and I HOPEFULLY will have a winning year (no $500 bets though). My point is just relax and if you need to take off the rest of the year than do it. I used to think the money won only felt about 1/10 as good as the money lost made me feel like shit. It just isn't worth getting stress out about. There will always be baseball.

You will win because you CARE more about this than your competion (the public). I beleive that is the NO.1 reason I have succeed since Febuary. I just have tried harder than others. Most importantly you have proven that you have won BIG in the past, so you know you can do this.

Best of luck and remember they play the national anthem EVERYDAY. I know what you are going thru. Just think of it as the books are like a bank and are holding your money for awhile, you will get it back. Hang in there buddy:103631605

Hard not to pull for the guy, he doesn't run and hide when he loses, just keeps plugging. Lombardi said this I think, losing doesn't build character, it reveals it. You can tell a lot of a capper by what he does when he's losing.

Good luck Chop.

Agreed... He really is a class act win or lose unlike some. Good luck in the future.:103631605

Hey Chop (and others),

I will cut to the chase. You guys should really use www.tradesports.com. I used to be a break-even to a losing bettor for the first two years of my betting career. THen I found out about tradesports. Now I bet there exclusively and make money consistently every month.

I am not undermining your handicapping abilities, Chop. But if you can make money at a sportsbook, you can make more at tradesports. I will outline few of the advantages and disadvantages here, for people who've never used tradesports before.

Disadvantages: You can't parlay or bet teasers. This should be fine for most of us however, since they tend to be sucker bets in most cases.

You also can't bet -1 lines in baseball. It's either ML or the runline. This can be somewhat annoying but in the long run, shouldn't make a difference.

Liquidity is sometimes not great. If you want to make a $100 or $200 wagers, tradesports is perfect. If you are looking for $10,000 wager, tradesports isn't for you.

Advantages:

1. Lower fees. Pinny is nice, they offer reduced odds, but still the vigs ADD up. If you had wagered 500 or so dollars a day for year, you paid about $10,000 in vig. This is serious. Tradesports offer significantly smaller fees. Instead of 5% vig in normal book, you can get away with less than 2% in fees. Not much difference you say? In the above example, the difference is more than $5000.

2. In-game trading. You can buy and sell in between games, sometimes you can take advantage of people who are not paying attention at buying/selling at unfair price. This however is rare.

More importantly, you can get out of your games and lock-in a profit when your team is winning by a decent margin. This is not always easy todo however because of liquidity is somewhat thin for in-game trading. However this option is at least available and in my personal experience, I saved myself a bunch of units this season after following Chop's picks and then getting out before "the closers" like Lidge took over and blew the game.

Shameless plug: they offer refer-a-friend bonus. $50 for me and$25 for you if you sign up. I will be willing to split everything in half, so $37 each. It's not a lot but it's still free money, so let me know if you are interested.

If you don't want to do it through me at least do it through someone else. tradesports's great but they too make money off us.

sincerely, wishing everyone a good sportsbetting career.

Know the feeling

I feel like I know what you're going through CHOP. I've been at this a long time and felt for many years that baseball was the best game to bet, no pointspreads, no back door covers, etc. Just pick winners. But the games these days don't make any sense. I don't know how one is supposed to handicap these games anymore. It seems like you have to determine the logical play and go the other way.
On Wednesday I played 3 teams with their best pitcher going, Houston, Balt. and Philly. All 3 lost, though only Oswalt pitched well. On thursday, of course, 2 of the 3 won with lesser pitchers. Lopez, who had stunk since opening day, goes 7+ and allows only 2 hits. So Thurs nite I played only Oakland at +160. Yhey led 7-0 with 2 outs in bottom of 6th but lost 8-7. I guesss I have had teams come back from 7 runs down to win but I'll be damned if I can remember when.
I don't know what makes sense anymore. Time to step back and just watch for a while I think.
