As far as the perfect world for Bonds and his pursuit of Babe Ruth, he's pretty much there. His next home run will tie the Bambino, and he'll have seven home games to do it (although he's not supposed to start tomorrow night's makeup game against Houston at Mays Field). With any luck, he'll get No. 715 out of the way at home, as well...
A lot of scouting reports went right out the window tonight -- like the one that says Bonds can no longer pull the ball for distance. Still, there's an amazing contrast between Bonds on a wheelhouse pitch and the kind of low-and-away tantalizer he just can't reach (for the second time in this series, Aaron Fultz struck out Bonds on a low-and-away breaking ball).
