I dont think it will go up from 7.5 but it could go down to 7. Im also trying to figure out if I want to hit it now. It goes against my rules ( I like to see steam, umps, wind, lineups before betting) but I would hate to get stuck with 7 in this spot. I will probably bet it tonight for 5 units and wait for the info. If it goes down I can hedge if the other infor is not to my liking.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

One last thing before I hit the sack. Ill post this and you can think what you want I came across this at the San Francisco Chronicle. This guy claims that Bonds wont play tomorrow night. He is the blog writter for the Giants. You guys can chomp on this for awhile. Im going to bed.

From The Chronicle's Bruce Jenkins, after the game in Philadelphia

So ends the road trip. For me, it was all about Barry Bonds -- my only assignment. It was a quiet, often ridiculous week, but from the standpoint of pure baseball, tonight made it all worthwhile. That 450-foot shot was one of the most impressive I've seen in more than 30 years covering baseball -- particularly considering the circumstances...

George Widman / Associated Press

Barry Bonds, just like our intrepid lounge blogger, can't wait to get back to San Francisco. Bonds struck out on an Aaron Fultz breaking ball to end his road trip.
As far as the perfect world for Bonds and his pursuit of Babe Ruth, he's pretty much there. His next home run will tie the Bambino, and he'll have seven home games to do it (although he's not supposed to start tomorrow night's makeup game against Houston at Mays Field). With any luck, he'll get No. 715 out of the way at home, as well...

A lot of scouting reports went right out the window tonight -- like the one that says Bonds can no longer pull the ball for distance. Still, there's an amazing contrast between Bonds on a wheelhouse pitch and the kind of low-and-away tantalizer he just can't reach (for the second time in this series, Aaron Fultz struck out Bonds on a low-and-away breaking ball). Depending on the location of the pitch, Bonds is either Babe Ruth or Tripp Cromer...

Technically speaking, by the way, Bonds has already caught Ruth. Back in 1996, in a game against the Dodgers at Candlestick, Bonds put one of Tom Candiotti's knucklers over the fence. It was gone. Everybody knew it but umpire Tom Hallion, who ruled it a double when he saw it bounce back onto the field. "There isn't even any doubt about it," Candiotti said recently. "I mention it every time I run into Barry. The night he catches Ruth, he will actually have passed him."...

I played the under for 1 unit in this game and its very rare for me to take both a side and total in the same game. I agree with TN aobut the offensive situation that SF is in for tomorrow. houston is among the tops in the National league in runs scored per game, this weekend aside when they faced the Rockies. For the record I have played Sabathia in both his starts coming off injury and have a nice +4.0 units to show for it. The difference here is Sabathia wasn't facing Oswalt, who I personally have rated a small bit higher than Lowry. Another key difference is the Cleveland team could slug their way to victory if they need to and SF is among the lowest scoring teams in the league. I actually think the price of -145 or so is a good deal for Oswalt in this situation...again, just talking baseball and I hope my comments and opinions aren't construed as argumentative or have a negative conotation.

Aside from the taking a side, the under is a good play imo and deserves at least a "1 unit" of consideration!! I actually bought it up to 8 at pinny for the extra quarter.

One more thing, I also feel SD TT over 3.5 at even money is worth a look fellas. Maddux and the over used bullpen gives up a few tongiht gents against a SD team that has won 8 in a row and playing good ball!! Maddux is notorious for giving up runs in the early innings though it hasen't happened but once this season, and I feel it happens again today.

I agree completely, except I have Oswalt WAY ahead of Lowry. Lowry is a nice 2 or 3, Oswalt is an ace on any staff. Ask which team trades for the two and Houston would laugh.

I would play Houston tomorrow, but dont like to play on teams that lost 3 straight or teams leaving Colorado. Often an offensive letdown and Houston cant afford that after getting handled in Colorado.

Good luck, and thanks for the good discussions. Makes us all better.

I actually lucked out on this play, it was at under 7.5 -105 when I booked it so I upped it to under 8 for -126. Sometimes it does pay to get the overnight line. I figure, as my luck would have it these days, someone would be up 5-2 and a 2 out, meaningless solo homer would be hit in the 9th...lol. good luck on this one Chopper!!

Yea, some of the clown books out there have better numbers but I am not very diversified right now. I only have money at 3 places at the present. I need to divert some money to MANSION and HOLLYWOOD.

My concern is how long will they let Lowry go? Is he on a strict pitch count? SF's bullpen has been amongst the leagues worst, in fact they may be the worst. Also don't forget the Astros were teeing off on lefties, this was last week and I need to update my stuff later tonight but doubt it's changed too much. Only Toronto in the American League was hitting southpaws better than the Astros. Overall a pass for me, definitely a pass on the Under, I just don't trust the Giants bullpen to hold anyone down.

Good luck Chop, congrats on your easy GOY win today.

Just to update this since I am done running everything for this week, yes SF's relievers are still the worst in the NL. Actually they are the worst in baseball. Guess who's next worst in the NL? Houston. This isn't a game you want to see the starters not go deep in if you have the under. I guess all games are like that to a degree but these two bullpens are at the bottom of the barrel, they can give up a bunch of runs real quick and kill an under. Throw this in with the fact the Astros are the best hitting NL team against lefties (and SF much prefers righties themselves) and it is something to think about. Houston's starters are great, they lead the NL in ERA, but when you get to their pen it often falls apart.

Don't get me wrong, as we all know Mr O and Lowry very easily could go the distance and it be a 2-0 type of ballgame. They definitely have the talent, easy to cap this game going that way too. This was just something to think about for any under bettors. Certainly none of this is enough to put me on the over, still think the play could win easily if the starters bring their A game, just something to consider. BTW isn't it nice we can discuss baseball without people getting offeneded that we don't always agree? Threads like these in Chop's picks are usually good reading for us who like to discuss baseball. Good luck tomorrow men.

Chop: From what I have observed the Giants are a very weak line-up without Alou(he was a league leader as well as a team leader) and their pitching staff is one of the worst in mlb. You mentioned it was a value play, was Alou being in the line-up a part of the value? Houston is back to their old ways of playing poorly on the road, but after watching the Giants play this wknd I just think there is better value regardless of the out come.

Chop I think you have a solid line up but word of caution the Giants hit Roy O. about as well as anyone in the league. I think the guy is sick but I am a little worried about him tonight. As far as Halladay goes I never mind having money behind him. Good luck tonight!

And you mentioned DIVERTING money to Hollywood, it would appear they have been bought out and -107 is going away. I would sit back and wait for the dust to settle before moving money into Sporting Bet, which is the proud new papa I believe.

Yes the play was made with the knowledge of Alou not being in the lineup.
