[h=1]Chicago Cubs interested in acquiring Yasiel Puig?[/h]Posted by: Evan Massey October 9, 2014in Cubs, Dodgers, MLB, MLB Blog, MLB Rumors
The Chicago Cubs are entering an intriguing offseason, and they are looking to spend some money and get back to competing for the NL Central division. There have been reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers are shopping outfielder Yasiel Puig around and want to trade him this offseason. According to other reports, the Cubs are interested in acquiring him if they can find a way to get him for the right price.
This past season, Puig ended up playing in 148 games with the Dodgers. He compiled a .296 batting average to go along with 16 home runs and 69 RBI’s. At the age of 23, he still has plenty of room to grow and plenty of time as well.
Chicago showed a lot of improvement this past year, and it is realistic that they could compete next season assuming they spend a decent amount of money this offseason. Puig would be a nice step in the right direction, and it’s not surprising that Theo Epstein has interest in him. Expect to hear more rumors involving Puig as the offseason continues to draw closer.

Are the Dodgers shopping Puig? You bet and the Cubs are one of several teams interested.

Puig would certainly be an interesting addition for the Cubs, but at this point in time it is simply preliminary interest. Chicago needs to acquire some better starting pitching, but the type of threat that Puig could be for the offense would be worth acquiring. That being said, it would all depend on what prospects the Dodgers would be asking for back in return.— George Ofman (@georgeofman) October 9, 2014
