Not saying he isn't a decent coach but before this season he got more credit/hype than any coach in recent memory and espcially for one that hasn't done much as a head coach. Like he was going to be this offensive guru who takes college football by storm and couldn't be stopped. It didn't happen.

Like most coaches though he will get too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose.

Since someone is bound to say it is a Notre Dame thing (which it sort of is) than I will be the 1st to say it and I feel I can speak for the under 40 crowd to the media. "We don't love Notre Dame." I have never understood why the media talks like ND is so loved (and even hated). I can honestly say that most people I know don't care either way for them (with most leaning towards dislike) and I am from Michigan.

I know they were are our fathers and grandfathers team but they are not nearly as popular as most of the media makes them out to be (IMO). Still a solid program, with a great tradition but I can promise you that generation X (which I am not apart of) is not in love with this school. They are cherished by some of the older crowd but not the younger ones.

I think they just snuck up on a lot of teams last year, but he definitely had them playing hard. This year, after teams got a look at how they were doing things, they became overvalued as a team.

His true test will be in the next couple years, when his recruits get a majority of the playing time.

Good post, Iceman.

Most of the people in this forum do care one way or another. And they mostly lean toward hating them.

How many times have you seen Weiss go for it on 4th down and get stopped when he damn well should have put (tried to) put a FG on the board or pinned the other team back. He then puts his "D" in a bad spot and gets STEAMROLLED.............

OSU bowl game last year , USC this year , last night etc.

I think part of the problem with ND is they get bowl matchups with teams that are much better than them. They get ratings because of their name so they get put in BCS bowls and they do not belong. Last year with Ohio St and this year LSU and I remember a bowl game against Oregon St a few years ago that they got blown out in. They did not belong in a BCS bowl but got in on their name only. Next year they should consider taking a spot in a lesser bowl against an opponent they have a chance of beating.

Exactly.........case in point with IOWA this year.

Iowa was a 6-6 team playing in a top non-BCS bowl..........only because of their fans and how they travel................hence they were a 10 pt underdog.

However, IOWA at least covered, ND didn't come close to doing so.

they won't take a paycut just to beat someone in a smaller bowl. I think the rule is if they finish top 8 they're guaranteed a BCS game, and if they are top 12 they will be considered. And being considered basically means guaranteed for ND.

Beavs were only like a 3.5 point fav and that may have been the easiest money I have ever made in CFB .............

Weis is a great coach. Remember that it is not his team yet. He needs athletic RB"S and WR and defense like LSU has. WHen he does look out. Everyone is right now that ND is overrated, presently. IF he does not recruit then he will not win big but I think he is.

What will kill ND and has hurt them in the last 10 years is they have higher academic standards than most and alot of athletes are turned away nowadays.

The great stretch in the early 90's with Zorich, Bettis, Tony Rice and a few others are not around now because they won't take guys like that now (too low of test scores).
