Purdue -6.5 (-115), 1*

That was a special performance from St. John’s last night. Every once in a while you end up on a team who lays the mother of all eggs. That was the Johnnies in a nutshell with that performance. Credit to UConn, but wow. I was looking at some of the stats today and it’s really eye-opening how much St. John’s were dominated. Anyway, I feel comfortable betting Purdue under seven, which is where we are now. I don’t think Purdue has what it takes to win a title this year. I’m not sure if they have what it takes to win the Big Ten. I do like the way they match up with Michigan State and I think they get a nice double digit home win. GL

Illinois +1.5 (-105), 1*

I think Michigan might be in the midst of a short-term swoon. Loss to Duke where they shot really poorly. Then you think they could bounce back and demolish Minnesota as they have other teams of similar quality. Only won that game by ten. I expect Michigan’s offense to show up. This shouldn’t be like the Duke game where they were held in the 60’s. I think Illinois matches up pretty well and home court matters in college basketball. I think Illinois has what it takes to get their best win of the season and make a statement heading into tourney time.

I lean Iowa State, but I don’t want to lay double digits. Guess I needed to bet that one earlier in the day. GL

I am going to bet Saint Mary’s. I haven’t decided if I’m going to bet the spread, moneyline or both.

NC State +9.5 (-112), 1*
Iowa State +7.5 (-115), 1*

NC State really needs this game and I wouldn’t be surprised if Duke is looking ahead to their rematch with North Carolina on Saturday. Duke could roll here, they have been playing really well. The last time they had a shaky week was the week they lost to UNC. They didn’t cover against an inferior opponent on a Monday and then lost to UNC. I bet against Duke and UNC in the game before they played each other the last time and that was the right decision. That’s not the only reason I am betting NC State, but the situational spot doesn’t hurt.

As for Iowa State, I think they have the capability of bouncing back and even stealing this game. Defense travels. If they can keep this game at their pace, they will have a chance to pull the upset late. I like what their team is made of and I expect them to be motivated off the loss to Texas Tech. GL

I am surprised Villanova is such a small favorite at DePaul. Maybe someone knows something I don’t. We are getting to the point where I’m going to have to bet Houston. We are down to -13.5 now. I’m general, I think people are dismissing Big 12 teams a little too easily. That conference is a gauntlet. Houston, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Arizona, BYU and Kansas are all in that conference. A team like Houston drops three straight to ranked teams and people are now questioning if they can make a run. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if there are 3-4 Big 12 teams in the elite eight. Some of these teams are going to find relief when they play outside of their conference. GL

I missed posting Northeastern. You can always live bet them. It’s tough to do the work for these conference tournaments during the day. I will be able to tackle the power five tourneys this weekend fortunately. More to come later potentially. GL
