I will have more to come tonight. Lot of games I am looking at, just waiting on lineups and info to come out. Michael King is returning for the Padres tonight and I would like to play against that. He only went 3 1/3 innings in his rehab start and threw 50-55 pitches. They decided to have him make his next start with the big league club, but his pitch count is limited to 70-75 pitches. I think he should have made one more rehab start and he won’t be as effective today. He also is only going to pitch 4-5 innings, which means we could see the Sox get some swings against the Padres long man if they have the lead when King departs.
I’m also not sold on Luis Gil. He was not good in his first start back last weekend. I also feel like the Yankees offense is kind of sitting on a breakout game. Often those games come when you least expect them, which would be today against Valdez. The total went up from 8 to 8.5 so clearly other people think we could get some runs at Yankee Stadium this afternoon. Valdez also was a little off last weekend against Boston. He only had one bad inning, but he wasn’t getting a lot of swing and misses. He made an error, committed a balk. He was good other then in the fourth inning of that game, but maybe that’s a sign of a guy who is a little work out. He and Hunter Brown have been carrying that rotation all season. More to come later. GL
