"wal-mart is a bad example. when sam walton started wall mart he took care of all of him employees when they went public most of his workers became millionairs because of stock options. now it is a huge company and can not afford to pay huge salaries. they employ unskilled people that make minimum wage that our govt sets. they employ millions of people that would other wise have no jobs."
That's a fallacy. First off, it's hight time we got rid for good of the downright stupid argument that "they employ millions of people that would other wise have no jobs", if they did not employ them some other co. could, because wal mart is there covering a human need, if they didn't do it, some one else would and maybe do it better. Secondly, you say "it is a huge company and can not afford to pay huge salaries.", i d say that because they are a huge company with years of rising super profits they can not only afford to pay more, they can pay triple more. But obviously when such big players as wall mart have most if not all politicians pocketed, they don't have to pay and so they dont pay. Just take a look at the main sponsors for the two parties, the democans and republicrats, there are some huge, huge lump sums going in there pockets for campaigns and blah blah, all public, all documented. If i am the politician and you as a wall mart have in essence made me and you as wal mart are my life support mechanism, do you really think i can raise the minimum wage?
