"wal-mart is a bad example. when sam walton started wall mart he took care of all of him employees when they went public most of his workers became millionairs because of stock options. now it is a huge company and can not afford to pay huge salaries. they employ unskilled people that make minimum wage that our govt sets. they employ millions of people that would other wise have no jobs."

That's a fallacy. First off, it's hight time we got rid for good of the downright stupid argument that "they employ millions of people that would other wise have no jobs", if they did not employ them some other co. could, because wal mart is there covering a human need, if they didn't do it, some one else would and maybe do it better. Secondly, you say "it is a huge company and can not afford to pay huge salaries.", i d say that because they are a huge company with years of rising super profits they can not only afford to pay more, they can pay triple more. But obviously when such big players as wall mart have most if not all politicians pocketed, they don't have to pay and so they dont pay. Just take a look at the main sponsors for the two parties, the democans and republicrats, there are some huge, huge lump sums going in there pockets for campaigns and blah blah, all public, all documented. If i am the politician and you as a wall mart have in essence made me and you as wal mart are my life support mechanism, do you really think i can raise the minimum wage?

It sure is a suprise that the owners of sportsbooks would try to pay the CR workers rock bottom because:

1) The sportsbook owners are among the most educated, enlightened and ethical Americans we've ever produced.

2) None of them would ever consider CR workers to be anything less their equals as human beings.

3) The owners are strong advocates of civil rights, and would never utter a racial slur or even consider less of someone based upon his nationality

4) The owners respect the CR women and culture so much, they would never consider asking a CR woman to go to bed with them for anything less than true love.

5) The owners are more concerned with the happiness of their employees than mere profit.

6) The owners are not soulness creatures whose only concern is the number at the bottom of a balance sheet.

Okay, now somebody please show me how to edit the date of this post to April 1st.

Good luck to all.
Justin

P.S. I love the name. For being a Yankees fan from Springfield, MA. I like the Red Sox alot. There would be nothing more I'd want than to see a Red Sox/Yankees Worls Series.

Any good businessman pays what the market will take, essentially thats it! The profit margin on sportbooks is a lot thinner then people think.

I am sure the good clerks rise to the top and are compensated appropriately according to the market.

Good post Eric.

In the case cream of the crop, it's prob just like everyday American manufacturing. It's the biggest suck-ass who gets the nice fringes.

yes walmart makes tons of money isn't that what they are in business for. shoud they pay someone with a highschool education $15 and hour to put toilet paper on shelves or mop up the floor when someone drops a bottle of pickles. they could afford it. lets just take the total profit of walmart and divide it by all of the employees isn't that the american dream. people are in business to make money. as long as employees are treated with dignity and pd. for what they do. where is the problem. if i bill myself out at 100 and hour and it take me 2 hours to clean my house. i don't pay the maid 200 i give her 40 bucks. she could not make 20 an hour doing anything else. does that make me an ass hole.

"if they did not employ them some other co. could, because wal mart is there covering a human need, if they didn't do it, some one else would and maybe do it better."

if walmart closed its doors than all of there employees woud need jobs flood the job market. then they would make even less. supply and demand

some of the people who work there are happy and content with their 6 bucks and hour. should we tell them their life sucks. i believe thats their decision if they want more then they need to have the desire to get it.

What is the Gross National product worth today in America?

How many Americans are there? True American citizens.

What is the American government national debt today?

Thanks

If they are paid $4 hour, how are they taking home $250-300? Do they get overtime over 40 hours or are they working 70 hour weeks for that money?
