The real joke is that some poster said that based on that LVA thread he was going to take his money out except for the big bets he had there for this weekend. He got his money within two hours. They sure look like they're in trouble!:puppy:

Sorry I'm late to the thread here. I noticed Baker had some comments for me along with some other people here as well.

I'm not going to go too indepth or take shots at any site or anyone here. I have some concerns about Bodog and I have decided that I won't play there with my own money any more. That includes the casino and the poker room.

I am then left in an awkward situation if I have an advertising or an affiliate arrangement with a site. How can I send people to a site, and make money off of those referrals, when I myself don't feel safe playing there?

I can't. Therefore I have asked Bodog to remove us from their affiliate program for now. I spoke with Erin, who works in the affiliate department, and who is also one of my favorite people I've met in the industry. We spoke at length and she expressed her disappointment in my actions. I will be consulting with other people in Bodog's management to try to get more information.

Note that I have thousands of hours of experience playing blackjack and poker in real casinos. I once lost 19 hands straight in a live blackjack game. I have seen it all when it comes to losing streaks. Just losing badly isn't enough to justify my thoughts. It's certain behaviors I see, along with consultation with friends who play online casinos every day. It also has to do with some of the history behind the software. If you think I'm a kook, then play there. I think I have an intuition for these things, however.

If you want to play in their casino and their poker room, it is up to you. Absolutely. I choose not to at this time.

Cheers.

Additionally, to provide some balance, a pro I know contacted me soon after the original post to tell me that he won a sizeable amount, well into 5-figures, playing Bodog's blackjack when they had the 20% unlimited bonuses going. He also said he was paid very quickly, although he was told he was no longer eligible for bonuses there anymore.

Also, Erin told me that all player accounts are covered by an account in Zurich.

I appreciate that above information. I still have my reservations, however, as far as referring other people to play there. I will be consulting further with Bodog management. If I'm shown to be wrong, I'll post on our site as well as here on the Rx that I was wrong and I will resume our affiliation with their site, if Bodog chooses to resume that affiliation.

What about the original thread title:

'Rumor about Bodog spending player $ on advertising'

Where did that come from?

Hi Wilheim,

There are some big names in the industry that have conveyed as much to me. You would know these names, as would most of the people here. Bodog has had some bonus programs that seemed a little too strong in the past, combined with their announcement of spending $50 million on ads in 2005.

I think players who have accounts there, that their money is probably safe. I never felt, nor stated, that I feel Bodog is having financial problems. I do think they might get money in from players and use that for operating expenses including advertising. Bodog strongly disagrees with me and maintains that they have all player accounts covered by an escrow with a bank in Zurich.

Bodog is a private company and I have never seen any type of financial data on them so maybe I'm right, maybe they're right, and maybe the truth lies somewhere in between.

I enjoyed meeting you at the last Rx party and I wish you continued success on the Prescription.

Best,
David
